It sounds like it could be the pump, but if you don't know the history of the filter, just change it. It might sound silly but make sure there is enough gas in the tank, the pumps normaly whine when they pump air e.g. no fuel. If the problem is not solved after changing the fuel filter (15 minute job) then when you have the fuel pump out check that the fuel pickup is attached because the problem may lie there. When you change the fuel filter let the fuel drain from the fuel rail (engine side) just incase there is an obstruction of debris there, this would be rare but I have seen it.

I would lean towards the pump. Some fuel pumps can be expensive, and it can be dangerous to work on fuel tanks, make sure your fuel tank is empty if you are going to remove it (they are deceivingly heavy)

from the description you gave, I would say your fuel pump is dying, and starting to fail. The whining noise is it struggling to do its job. You might find someone that can service the fuel pump (clean it, inspect it, fix worn out components and contacts, otherwise get it replaced.

My recommendation: Get a service technician (aka Mechanic) to take a look and ensure it is the fuel pump that has failed before you go buy a new one (because it may be a couple hundred dollars).
I hope this helps, Let me know what you find out.

PS - If you have never replaced the fuel filter, do it, they are rather cheap and easy to replace.

If you know you need the fuel pump...try to buy it online. I priced a pump and filter sock at approx. $130 (plus tax) at Auto Zone. Bought it on line..shipped in 2 days to the house..for $36!!!!! Works like a champ.

I changed the fuel pump to my car but still it can't start and the engine is 1zz

Assuming fuel pump was in gas tank unless older vehicle, in front of gas tank under the car will be a fuel filter...canister shaped..like a miniature coke can...has one line coming from gas tank, one coming from front of filter to engine, will either have lines that thread into filter or plastic clips you remove and take lines off..take filter off and dump into a clear bottle, if gas is dirty or has trash you prob need to replace fuel fiter..also you should be able to blow through the filter without virtually any resistance..if its not similar to blowing through a straw..filter is clogged..also you can just take fuel line off in front of filter...have someone turn the key to on position...when you turn key to on not crank just on..fuel pump powers on for a couple seconds and if filter isn't clogged you should have fuel come out the front side of fuel filter

My 1995 corolla while driving press gas petal car hesitate car kinda jerks

Could be a number of issues.

1. Fuel filter a clogged fuel filter will cause restriction in the lines and starve a vehicle for fuel causing hesitation.
2. a weak fuel pump if your fuel pump is going sometimes it can not supply the proper fuel and pressure.
3. water in your gas can cause this as well depending on how long you have had this problem especially if it started right after you filled your tank.
4. Spark plugs and wires basically a tune up.

hope this helps some.

My car seems to be starving for gas

Yes you may replace your fuel filter and check for the adjustment of the carburetor float level. Try also cleaning the whole carb specially the metering orifice and other small passages.

It will not start ran out of gas know has a 1/2 tank and still want start

the first thing you should check is the fuel pump. when turning the ignition to the on position, if the car is completely silent, you can hear the fuel pump click or make noise towards the back of the car. one thing i would suggest doing is turning the car on, but not trying to start it, that way the fuel pmp can beggin to pump fuel to the engine. if after a while you try to start it and no go, then keep turning it over. it might take a lot of turning over to start because the fuel lines alone have over a gallon on most cars, so it might be normal if it takes forever to start the first time. another way to check to see if the fuel pump is working is after trying to turn it over, and you remove the gas cap, you will hear the pressure being let out. if you hear this, that is good. if not, try cheking to see if t he fuel filter has gas in it. if it is still empty, than you have a bigger problem. you should also try spraying either gas of starter fluid into the carburator to make sure no other problems have occured. hope this helps, goodluck.

Car shuts off as if starved of fuel remove fuel line and prime car starts

There's a fuel pump relay that turns on the fuel pump, as you turn on the ignition before the engine starts, to prime and pressurize the injectors. I'd check the relay it may not be operating.

My 1991 saturn has no gas at filter zero gas flow what do i check 1st

First make sure you have lots of gas in the tank, between a quarter and half. Turn the ignition on and listen for a humming or buzzing noise coming from the tank. The fuel pump should run for a few seconds. If there is no noise you will have to check for a blown fuse. No bad fuses, change the fuel pump.
If the pump runs, remove the fuel line from the tank end of the filter and turn the key on for a secoond or 2. If there is lots of fuel then replace the filter. If fuel just dribbles replace the pump.
If you have to work on the fuel pump, make sure the electrical connections are not corroded and are not loose. Also check the rubber hoses at the connection. Sometimes they will go soft and collapse, plugging the fuel line. Make sure you put the fuel lines back on properly. Hope this helps.

Wont start

when you turn the key to the ON position you should hear your electric fuel pump come on (a quiet hissing noise) if you dont hear this noise your fuel pump has gone out, if you do hear the noise you might want to check your fuel filter it could be clogged and starving the engine of fuel
