Question about 2003 Dodge Intrepid
HI I HAVE A 2003 DODGE INTREPID SE 2.7 AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON READING CODE P0700 AND I RECENTLY CHANGED THE INPUT & OUTPUT SENSOR ON THE TRANSMISSION. AND MY MECHANIC RESET THE CODES FROM THE INSIDE OF MY CAR. THEN RAN GOOD FOR ABOUT AN HOUR TIL ONCE AGAIN THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. NOW THE MECHANIC SAYS I HAVE TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THEM FLASH THE COMPUTER AND THAT WOULD RESET EVERYTHING AND THAT YOU HAVE TO RESET IT AFTER YOU CHANGE SOMETHING BIG LIKE THAT ON THYE MOTOR OR TRANSMISSION IS THIS TRUE OR COULD MY TRANSMISSION BE GOING OUT ON MY CAR? THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR EVERYTHING LAURA.
Regarding the error code you received,
P0700 is EATX code present. It simply means that the engine computer has noticed that the transmission computer has a dtc in it. This causes the Pcm (engine computer) to turn the check engine light on. You will need to have the TCM (trans computer) checked for codes to know what to diagnose.
There might be million of reasons for the same from a small transmission fault to a big one. We cannot determine the fault without proper diagnosis. What i would suggest to get in touch with the dealer to know the exact fault, as it might be a small issue.
Any further help, let me know.

The mechanic is right regarding resetting of the codes since youhave installed new sensors. Each sensor according to its manufacturer may have slightly different codes for the same purpose. This data has to be fed to microchip in the car meant for that particular purpose. Visiting the dealer and resetting codes for a major part as transmission is the perfect solution. However nothing to worry about your transmission system Its perfectly all right only the sensor output is clashing with or not being registered by the onboard chip......................................sodeep
