How to test fuel inertia cutoff switch....

I just checked voltage going to switch with switch pulled off the wires say14-15 volts...whoever when the switch is hooked up it makes a weird sound when i shake it supposed to do that? my car wont start i dont hear the fuel pump

Do you power coming out of the switch when connected? If you do maybe you fuel pump is bad.

sounds like a bad ground or short to the signal wire what you can do is trace the wires from the tank to the bulk head connector to check for brakes in the wire but first do a ohm test on the three wires with the key off there is resistance between the wire you have a short if not check for brake or corroded connections

Yes it should be 12 volts at the pump. i have had this problem at the shop a couple of times and i replaced the inertia switch and it fixed it. Also check the connector at the inertia switch, there is high resistance in the circuit which is causing the voltage to be low.

How to check inertia switch 98 ranger . It has 3 wires

Three wires - the dark green with yellow stripe comes from the fuel pump relay ! When energized the relay sends battery voltage to the inertia switch via the dark green with yellow stripe wire . Where is the inertia switch located on a 1999 Dodge Durango

I don't believe it has one. I've heard some pretty reliable sources say this safety switch is a Ford-only product. First check the fuel pump fuse. It's fuse #1 in the Power Distribution Center, a 20 amp fuse.

If the fuel pump in the tank is not turning on to put gas up to the engine, you have a problem in the pump circuit or a bad pump.
There's an easy way to determine which it is. You will need a voltmeter or at least a test light.
Find the gas tank electrical connector. It will be near the tank. A wire loom of about 4 wires will likely come from the top of the tank and run down to an electrical connector, probably close to the side frame rails. Pull the connector apart, and on the harness side (or chassis side, not the tank side of connector) identify the dark green with black stripe wire in the connector. This is the power wire to the fuel pump. You need to check if it has voltage on it when the pump is supposed to be running and pumping.
You will need a helper to turn the key to start and crank the engine over while you check for power with the voltmeter or test light. If the voltmeter says battery voltage-right around 12 volts, 11.8 volts or more- or if the test light comes on brightly, then you know the pump has failed (90% certainty) and you need to replace it.
If there is no voltage on the dark green/ black stripe wire with the engine cranking, it is not a pump problem. You will need to consult a wiring diagram to diagnose the fuel pump circuit. I just looked and there is no inertia switch.

New fuel pump, ccrm and fuel filter and still blowing 20 amp fuel pump fuse

If the components are all good, then check wiring connectors and wiring circuits, it appears the problem is after the ccrm. wiring from ccrm to fuel pump. For testing you should be able to use jumper wire with inline 20 amp fuse, from voltage to fuel pump connector, to see if it will run w/o blowing the fuse. As you can see from ccrm to inertia switch there are two connectors. From inertia switch to fuel pump, one connector. There are many ways to test. With connectors unplugged, you could use a test lite connected to battery voltage, touch correct wire terminal, if lite comes on, that circuit is going to ground, somewhere.
See that one wire that goes down, wire circuit from ccrm to inertia switch, that wire goes to pcm, I believe it to a monitor circuit, the pcm monitors the voltage on that circuit.

How do you verify if the cutoff switch for a 2008 f450 is good or bad?

If you are talking about the inertia switch for the fuel pump, you jumper it with a wire and check for voltage or check it with an ohm meter.

The cutoff switch has a reset button on top that you hold for 3 seconds. To test it you would have to check the wires going into it for power or ground because the wires will be live if the ignition switch is in the run position and the fuses are good.

Then you would test the wires coming out which would work if the switch is reset. The switch is sealed and while you get the impression of something electrically complicated, it is not. All the switch has inside is a magnetic ball that connects a gap between two wire ends. When the switch is bumped, the magnetic ball drops and the circuit is broken. When you reset, you are just picking up the magnetic ball again so that it will bridge the gap between the internal wires.
