Question about 1989 Dodge Colt Vista
Hi, my girlfriends car was working fine and in then died while she was driving. i just changed the battery, alternator, and spark plugs. we might think that it is a bad coil or the altenator might be the wrong year. we think its an '89 because none of the other years worked for the brake pads. i think the alternator is for a '91, but all the bolt paterns are te same and the wire harness fit perfectly. could te alterntor have anything to do with this?
Good way to see if alternator is working is to remove positive battery cable while engine is running if continue to run then alternator is functioning.coil can be checked for proper resistance with volt ohm meter.might be stator or ignition module under rotor button in distributor..opens when hot and engine dies...
