Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I just bought a 1990 Nissan Hardbody and the day after I picked it up I was driving home from work and noticed my break petal had to be pushed to the floor which caused my back tires to lock up. Well I got home and looked and still had break fluid (which tells me there is no leak. Right?) I also changed the master cylinder, then bench bleed it then began to bleed the brakes... Well I would began to get a good petal after bleeding all the tires but when I take my foot off the break and wait about 15 seconds and push back down on the petal it goes all the way to the floor. I have put 3 master cylinders on it and done the same thing I just said again I have check every possible spot for leaks and there is absolutely nothing!!! Any suggestions??!??

Most likely the front brake hoses are worn.

From the master cylinder to both my front & back breaks are brass line sets... it's not a hose. I've lifted the truck up and went through and check every where. There's no leak whatsoever

SOURCE: Replaced master break cylinder bench

You have air in the system, no matter that you bench bled the Master cylinder, air got in the system that is the only cause of this symptom other than a defective new part. Follow the guide lines below to bleed brakes.

To properly bleed the brakes, start with a couple of 8-ounce cans of fresh brake fluid. An unopened can has a long shelf life. An opened can should be discarded within a few weeks. Get the vehicle up in the air and remove all four wheels, you might be able to do this with the wheels on if you can swing a wrench on the bleeder valves. PLease read through the instructions completely before you start work, do not let the Master cylinder run dry of fluid.

Have a helper pump up the brake pedal, then open the right rear brake bleeder and bleed it until you don't hear anymore air bubbles coming out and the fluid stream is steady, next move to the left rear wheel and repeat, then to the right front and bleed that wheel cylinder, then repeat at the left front wheel cylinder. A tip hear, soak the bleeders with WD40 before you try to crack them open, DO NOT STRIP/ROUND OFF THE CYLINDER BLEEDERS, Use a box end wrench to get a good bite on the bleeders. When all the air is out of the system the fluid will be steady and not make a spurting noise, do not run the master out of fluid!

What different years of computers will work in my truck 1990 nissan hardbody

Well it depends.
Engine size, transmission type, and 2 or 4 wheel drive makes a difference.
So a 4 cyl will not work on a V6 and so on.
Some will work on 1990 and 1991, others have to be the same year as your truck.

Gas gauge in the dash malfunctioning - 1990 Nissan Hardbody truck

It sounds like the float on the sending unit is sinking. Don't know what the float is made of, but over time, it will soak up gas and start to get heavy. This would cause your problem. I don't think it's the gauge, but if you want to test it, disconnect the wires at the tank. The gauge will either go to full or empty. If you ground the sending wire, the gauge should respond the opposite way it was. good luck

1990 Nissan pickup with no power to radio or A/C. I just painted it, and while I was screwing the antenna back on to the hood I noticed sparks. I checked the fuse for radio and A/C and they are fine. ...

Make sure you have good Grounds. if you painted truck and removed any wiring ground you may not be getting good ground throu new paint. sand off paint at any ground and cover with dielectric grease.

I HAVE A NISSAN d21 2.4L 1987 hardbody pick up as im driving when i let up on the gas pedal it seems to stumble just a little bit then it seems fine after that ???

Sounds like it could be faulty fuel injectors. (unless of course, it's carburated, then it'd be a poorly adjusted float)
