SOURCE: 96 Cavalier passenger rear brake lock up when wet or cold

Bad PROPORTION VALVE ... the back brakes should only be doing 30% of the stopping with a bad proportion valve it will send more pressure to the back during braking and cause it to lock up. Good Luck and thanks for using FIX YA

Brakes grabing on komatsu forklift

\If there is no evidence of leaks (low brake fluid) or axle seal hub wet I would test drive at 3/4 throttle in reverse and try to lock up the brakes, does it leave an even skid? Does the brake pedal feel normal? Sometimes wet (drove thru a puddle) or higher humidity makes them noisy or grabby (cast iron drums rusty inside) and can be run hard with multiple stops to correct, or you can pull the wheels, axles and drums to inspect.

Rear brakes locking up when wet. Now abs light and service light and traction control light all coming on abs cutting in quite often even when it's not wet or slippery

Sounds like possibly your emergency brake cable got stuck at one point in time, its probably wearing your brakes down horribly. Also your rear brake calipers may have gone bad and are partially stuck closed.

When its wet out side the car has trouble braking it jumps forward and says low trac

That sounds like brakes are locking up. Usually there is a balance control issue or non functioning rear brakes. Complete inspection and testing are needed. If, for example, rear calipers were frozen, all of the braking would be in the front, and feel normal, but when wet, the fronts would lock and slip, as you describe.

If I leave my 2003 3 series touring parked on my drive for a week or more, with the handbrake on and it has been cold and/or wet during that time, my rear brakes lock. The only way to free them is to drive...

What is happening is that your handbrake shoes are rusting onto the inside of of your brake drum ( inside the rear disks)
As the park brake is separate from your rear disks it doesn't get used ( cleaned ) during normal driving.
You could try gently applying your handbrake whilst moving to see if it will polish the brake linings and stop them siezing

Left front brake locked up. Changed master cyclinder. Have good brakes for an hour then left front keeps getting air in line. No visible leaks (wet spots).anywhere also no lose of fluid.

If left front brake is binding it will cause brake fluid to boil which inturn causes air in system, then soft pedal. [may also explain lock up].

Rear drivers wheel locks up in drive is o.k. in reverse

If no oil on the driver side, you have a locked up parking brake pivot. Follow the park brake cable to the inside plate of the rear wheels. on the outside, where the cable connects, look to see the position of the visible mechanism connected to the cable. It probably will not match the side that is not locked up. This is a very common problem; you need to replace the park brake pivot. Additionally, you are going to need to remove the other side axle shaft and get the leaking oil seal replaced. Replace the brake shoes if they have oil on them.
