Window wont roll up

I have a 2004 siverado and my drivers power window wont roll up. You can hear the motor but no movement. It just falls down and is free to move by hand. What can be the problem and is it something I can fix without taking to the dealer. Thank you

Window regulator is broken most mechanics can repair without going to dealership. suggest you ask around or get haynes manuel on your vehicle to see if you can follow instructions to replace regulator yourself.

Drivers side window wont roll up or down

If you can hear the motor when you try to operate the window then it'll be a problem with your window regulator (the mechanism that moves the window up an down), if you can't hear the motor then It's more likely to be a fault with the motor as you said it wouldn't work with the central locking. This means your car has a total closure system, ie you press a button and all windows and sunroof close. These systems are usually seperate wiring from the switched circuit used to operate the windows from inside the car, so, if the windows don't work on either circuit then the one thing they do have in common is the motor.

Chevy Malibu 2005 window wont roll up or down.

Sounds like the window regulator broke (the mechanism that moves your window up and down). It has cable to do the lifting the window up and pulling the window down. These cables do break.

While my driver's side window (2004 Honda Civic) was rolled down at a drivethru, I heard it fall and now it won't roll back up. I can hear the motor trying to roll it up when I press the button, so I know...

Hi,
Seems some supports / clips of glass was falling down make your window unable goes upward. It is not to hard to fix it and these can be purchase auto part store ( I guess you don't need to buy new ones but just re install existing ones). If you are confident enough just go through with your plan and have it fixed yourself.

you have to replace the window regulator reason why is because the cable ripped which would cause the motor to work without moving the window up or down .. regulator is the cable and the rails were the motor makes the woindow move up and down on. you have to replace it.
