An RED OIL LIGHT on your dash, means a LOSS OF OIL PRESSURE. Has nothing to do with HOW MUCH OIL IS ON THE DIPSTICK. Now , does it just flash for a couple of seconds, or is it on steady ? Is there any engine noise ? Hope this helps

Oil pressure low is on,and it say stop engine can I drive it if I put oil in it

If the oil PRESSURE is low, AND you have plenty of oil in the engine, DO NOT drive it.

If the oil level is low, add oil to the "full" mark on the dipstick. Start the engine, and see if the light goes off. If the light goes off, you can drive it.

Oil pressure warning light is on and this oil is full

1) the oil light just came on, i checked it and it was fine. the garage said it had been serviced. looks like new oil on the dipstick too. I've already driven about 50miles since collecting my car and it came on tonight once i was stationary.

2) i am missing caps in the engine from the coolant tank and also another from somewhere i cant even recognise. its the opposite side, same place as the brake fluid reservoir!! can anyone identify this and also suggest somewhere for replacements??

Thanks

Dont have manual and a light came on dashboard looks like oil can but not what is it

If the oil can light goes on, check the level in the crankcase by checking the oil dipstick under the hood. It may be low.

If it is at a full level, then the oil light may indicate low oil pressure. Change the oil and filter to see if the condition improves. If it doesn't, then the oil pump may be bad. One can test the pressure of the oil while the engine is running by putting a gauge on the area where the oil pressure sending unit is, and reading the value to see if it is within specifications.

Good luck on this repair.

Why does oil light come on if I have plenty of oil in Vw Passet?

always go by the reading on your dipstick !!! this is probably a bad low oil sensor, i know warning lights can be irritating but if the dipstick says full DONT add more

Check gages light coms on and the oil presure gage gose down when engien is warm and in drive or revers

Replace your oil pressure sender and see if the dash warning lights turn off. If after changing the oil pressure sender you still have oil pressure warning lights on, you may have to replace your oil pump in your oil pan.

Dodge caravan '98, oil light on, plenty of oil

If the engine is not making any knocking type noises, check the oil pressure sending unit. If it is leaking oil then it needs to be replaced along with removing the rubber plug from the connector and cleaning the terminals. If the oil light still comes on then the oil pressure is definately low and could cause engine failure.
