Question about 1996 BMW 3 Series
It is an M3 2 door coupe. it has an L-6 cylinder engine. the horn as a fuse for it under the hood in the fuse box. a brand new one has not helped this time although it has in the past. i even tried a higher amperage. i really need to find these wires under the hood that go to the horn. it's been suggested that i maybe loosen them during rough driving/going over potholes etc. maybe if i can see them, i can locate the problem???
Relace the horn as the inside workings are rusted out. A higher fuse will only burn the wiring harness

I would first check for a vacuum leak. Common areas of intake leaks are: 1. The crankcase vent valve located under the intake. 2.Check the intake boot at the throttle housing. You will find that there is an elbow where a small hose goes to your idle valve. Using your hand feel in the elbow area for a hole in the rubber. Your tech can use brake cleaner and spray the intake to check for leaks or use a smoke tester. 3.Possible failing Mass Air Meter. At idle, in park, and a/c not on the meter reading should be appr. 18-22 hz

The purge valve is right underneath the intake manifold, it the valve that has a hard plastic hose attached to it that runs back towards the fuel tank. But I don't think that is it. I had the same problem and I changed the MAP thermostat, and the leak detection pump. Here are the codes from the OBD27cc DMTL leakage279b Thermostat map cooling
You need part number 03 Leak diagnostic pump 1 16137193479
04 Thermostat housing with thermostat 1 11537509227 $66.96

most new BMW's the fuse block is located behind the glove box. There should be a pair of twist plastic fastners at the back of the glove box, twist and remove the plate and you should find the fuse box and fuse locater list.
