How do i set timing on a 1988 chevy s10 please show pics

Get timing light and attach to #1 cylinder unhook timming comp. mark pully at T.D.C (top dead center) and crank engine. adjust distributor till #1 and #4 are within hash mark 0 on top of pully. not positive how to tell it the best way but tried. that is how i interpreted it

Most fuel filters are now in the fuel tank with the pump. If I knew the year, make and model, I could tell you for sure.

2.8L 10 BTDC .. this is with the 1 connector brown wire.. usually under the glove box, or under the hood behind the distributor.. disconnect that wire to set the timing..

in the trans is 80w-90. the clutch fluid is actally the exact same as dot3 brake fluid.

the numbers on the ecm must be the same . you have 2 sets of numbers and the bottom set should be the same.

sounds like ignition module inside of distributor cap under distributor rotor button.these do go bad and can easily be replaced.strong suspicion from your details that this is the culprit.
