Looked at the fuses. all good. I don't know about a relay. I did turn on the ing. and put a meter on the harness going to the fuel pump. The side that controls the fuel gauge has amp. The side that controls the pump shows no amps. Does the car need to be on for the amps to show on the pump side?

You should have a fuse & a relay. Check # 11 fuse it should be 15 amp.& may be for your fuel pump. Do you have owners manual by chance, or does cover of fuses have label?

Your fuel pump relay should be under dash by computer in area of drivers left knee. If you relieve fuel pressure, then get under or near fuel pump & turn key to on, you should hear it cycle.

Starts fine then stalls after a couple seconds.

its could be the fuel pump, if its going bad then it could be causing stall and a gas hose could be bad to and is only allowing a little gas to motor causing it to stall also

1991 legacy died. daughters car on highway and the motor just quite at high speed. Dash lights all came on, motor turns over but will not start. It is in a remote location. I am going to take parts...

First you should see what is missing. What I mean is before you start changing parts. Check your basics. Check for fuel pressure, check for spark, check compression. After you determine what is missing then start troubleshooting that prblem, for example if you did nothave proper fuel pressure then, yes, you could have a bad fuel pump or simply a clogged fuel filter. But find out what your missing first then find out your cause of the problem.

Try changing the ignition coil.
The easy way to test this, is turn the ignition on,for about thirty second's ,then feel the coil ,if it is hot ,replace it.

How do you change the fuel filter on a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT, and how often should this be changed.

you'll need to jack up your car and pull your fuse for the fuel pump.. run the car until it stalls out from not getting any fuel... then disconnect the clamp that connects from the filter to the gas tank and let any residual gas drain into a container... remove the clamp on the other side of the filter and then reverse the order.... once it's back in, put the fuse back in and turn the key until all your dash lights turn on (On Position) and leave for about 20 seconds... The pump will prime and then you can start the car, may take a few tries before it will start.... It should be changed about every 5 years, but that's only a recommendation, some filters last less, some last longer

Changed fuel filter now car wont start

did you install the filter the correct direction some only allow fuel flow in one direction, or the increased fuel flow because the filter was no longer plugged may have sent more dirt and rust into the new filter clogging it

Turn The Key To The Acc Option for about 30 seconds then see if it starts first try if it does change your fuel filter. If It Doesn't Start First Try Id Suggest A New Fuel Pump.
