Where is the ground on a 82 ford f250 solenoid

The solenoid is grounded through the bolt that fastens it to the inner fender. If it isn't enough make a new one that goes from the mounting bolt of the solenoid to the negative of the battery

97 f250 ford truck wont start unless you short across the solenoid

A test light is better for basic testing(puts a load on the circuit). You should be able to get a light on the small solenoid wire when the key is turned to "start".If the light comes on,and shorting across the large terminals cranks the starter, the solenoid is the problem.(pretty common cause).

What side of the starter solenoid does the "hot" wire go on for a 1974 Ford F250 truck. The solenoid is on the left fender wall. Someone had wired an aftermarket ammeter but it keeps shorting...

With the S terminal at the top of the solenoid, the hot wire (from battery) goes to the terminal on the left when you are in front of the solenoid looking at it. The other goes to the starter.

I need to see diagram for the battery wiring for a ford f250 460 cu in engine from starter back to battery. I am not sure what positive cable i need and how it is connected to starter and solenoid then...

There are two cables to the starter. one -, one +, both of these come directly from the battery. The + goes to solenoid on one side then from the other side to the starter. If you have the solenoid on the wheel well. The - goes to the block any where you want, but usually on the bolt that holds the starter on. If you have he starter with the solenoid on it then the+ goes to it. Also on the solenoid there is a smaller wire that is the ignition wire from the ignition switch
