I have a 1990 k1500 shortbox that im doing my rear brake shoes on. i need a diagram or a video or someone to tell me where and how to put all the springs and adjusters back on. anything will help. thank...

Tony, the secret is to remove the springs, one at a time, and place in a realtive position, so they go back the same, and also do one side at a time, so you could look at the other side, if you get stuck.

The shoe with more material goes towards the rear, less material to the front of the vehicle.

Here are some pictures to help.

How complicated would it be to change rear drum brakes? I'm not a mechanic but I am mechanical. My rear drums and shoes need to be replaced. Thought I could do it and save the cost of the auto shop. Thanks...

It is a fairly easy job, the brakes shoes are the hardest part, It has shoes? Get the drums off, a couple hits with a brass hammer should do it. If they are stuck, you might need to reach in the back with an adj tool and close them up a bit, if it gets tighter, you're going the wrong way. If the drums are smooth, you won't need to turn them, if they are gouged up, rough, have lines in them, they need to be turned.Get the shoes off, put the new ones on, clean that mess up with the air gun, put on a dab of grease at the rub spots, pull the springs tight, put the drums on, adj the shoes out till they rub, you are all set, that is how most cars would be done, you might have a little different set up. Hope this helps.

Locate the brake switch up above the brake pedal. Push in on plunger and check if brake lights go out. This switch can be unplugged and removed from its spot at the pedal. Then you can pull out plunger and reset it, put back in its spot, and let pedal readjust to the appropriate travel. It should automatically set to correct stroke length after pulling plunger outward to its furthest length. If this switch, or its adjustment is not to blame, post again. I will help more if needed.

Thanks, I hope this helps. TT
