Question about 1999 Chevrolet Tracker

No brakes When I press in the brake pedal brake fluid pours out of the left back hub. This happened all of a sudden on my way home. The brake pedal goes to the floor and you can hear it bubbling out from the back tire.

Either the brake line is broken or the wheel cylinder is leaking, pull the tire.

I have attempted to bleed the brakes on my terios and now i got no brakes


Check You Tube for a video showing how to bleed brakes. It is not difficult to do wh=ithout fancy tools but you have to be careful to keep the flusid reservoir adequately filled while bleeding each "wheel." Have someone press the brake pedal when you loosen the bleeder and the lift up the pedal ONLY after you have closed the bleeder. That way no air can slip back in when the pedal is raised.

Generally, bleed the brake first on the wheel farthest from the brake master cylinder, often the left rear wheel. Next bleed the front wheel that is diagonal from that wheel (the left fornt wheel.) Then bleed the other rear wheel brake and, finally, the remaining front wheel brake. Remember to top off the fluid in the reservoir before bleeding each brake. That way you will not be inadvertently pump air into the system. If that happens, you have to start over.

Bleeding brakes on my 1993 Cadillac Eldorado


This takes 2 people master cylinder is full lid back on . have assistant pump brake pedal 3 times then hold down saying "holding" then you loosen bleeder screw on right rear brake slowly air will come out then a little fluid. tighten screw and say pump it up "holding" as fluid in coming out pedal will sink "Keep pressing" repeat util clean fluid appears. check master fluid level now repeat left rear. fluid level right front fluid level left front fluid level once complte you should have a firm pedal.

Air in brake lines


Make sure the cap is on when you go to bleed. When you press the pedal down hold it to the floor and have an assistant pour fluid in reservoir then put cap back on before letting up on pedal repeat as necessary. If not working still you have a bad master cylinder

Brake pedal went straight to the floor without resistance


Low or empty brake fluid . No red brake light lite . Brake line corroded maybe , where do you live ? Rust belt USA . Just had a similar problem in a 2005 chevy cavalier . Did you have to stop really fast ?

Brake fluid is spilling out on the ground from rear passenger side when in park and pumping the brakes


Try and pinpoint where it is leaking.First start by cleaning everything off (brake fluid) of wheel hub.Check to make sure the bleeder valve is closed(tight).While you have someone applying pressure to brake pedal look on back of wheel hub and search for leak.Search on brake line,brake line fittings,around bleeder.

Nissan 1400 champ front brakes binding, brake paddle stays high.


This indicates that you have air in the brake system or something isn't mounted properly. You'll need to inspect to see if there is anything not properly mounted, I'll deal with the brake bleeding:

You will need to bleed the brakes from the right rear first, then the left rear, right front, then left front brake, all without letting the brake Master Cylinder resivoir from getting low while doing the bleeding.

You may even want to start with the master cylinder to make sure it's bled properly by loosening the lines there first, bleeding them & then continuing to the system. Use the guide below for best results.

Bleeding brakes properly:
1. 2 people are required to do this properly, forget one man bleeders, they do work, but don't talk back or identify problems as they can't see what's happening. As a safety feature it's good to have another person nearby when someone is getting underneath a vehicle. Even my wife has had to do the pedal pushing in my household when I didn't have an assistant and needed to bleed either a brake system, or a clutch system.

2. Never let the fluid go beneath half way down when bleeding the brakes.

3. When adding fluid to the master cylinder, use a funnel to allow the fluid to run down the side into the cylinder, or use a syringe to prevent air from entering the fluid as you pour it.

4. Always pump the brakes slowly, release them slowly. Fast pedal action causes the fluid to rise into the air, allowing air to enter the system.

5. Pressurize the system by pumping repeatedly until the pedal is as firm as it will get, continue to hold that pedal down until the person bleeding the brakes, has released the air by loosening the bleeder valve, then make sure the line is tightened BEFORE releasing the brake pedal slowly. Pump the pedal again to build pressure, & bleed the brake again the same way until air stops coming out & only good fluid is seen. Proceed to the next farthest line.

If done this way, the brakes will be properly bled and if there are no leaks, the system should work properly. If you identify a leak, repair and start over.

How do I bleed air from the brakes


Two persons are required: one to bleed and other to press brake pedal.
Remove wheel and hub of the side you want to bleed. You will find the bleed nut there. Open it a little until some oil flows out. Ask the other person to press brake pedal with steady pushing and withdrawing until he feels its tight while you slowly tighten the nut. Adjust tightness of pedal by trial. Don't forge to refill the brake fluid after bleeding all the brakes.

Sounds like you still have air in your brake lines. Make sure all your brake lines are tight. Then bleed again. Bleed the trouble side first, meaning right side, then go to front left, back left then back right, make sure that your brake fluid is also full

Sometimes (when changing the brake calipers on disk brakes, or changing wheel cylinders on drum brake systems) the mechanic will clamp a vise grip pliers on the rubber hose to prevent hydraulic fluid from dripping out.  This can break the internal fiber lining in the rubber hose.  Then the fluid flow can be blocked.  When you press the brake pedal, fluid may not flow to the wheel or wheels.  As you press harder, the fluid may suddenly flow through the line, causing the brakes to suddenly activate.  
Or an even more likely problem, your brakes drag (stay on) and get hot, because the fluid cannot flow back to the master cylinder when you release the brake pedal.  In other words, when you press the brake you force fluid through a partially blocked rubber hose.  But the return of the fluid (backwards through the rubber hose) is caused not by pressure, but just by equilibrium, a balancing act.  Well, if the line (rubber hose) is blocked, the fluid stays in the caliper or wheel cylinder, and the brake is still on, and the brake gets hot.
