Question about Cars & Trucks

Open Question

Hi I've got a polo playa 1.4i 2001 model. Yesterday on my way to the shop I've noticed my waterpump was leaking water badly from the shaft seal by the pulley so I topped up the water n drove it home slowly. When I just got home it started overheating....replaced the waterpump but it still overheated in just about 5mins. This morning I wanted to check the thermostat but I found the car never had 1 must be the reason my heater never worked also and its the first time I've opend the housing. No water in the oil and no leaks as far as I have checked. Can anyone tell me what else I can do 2 fix this problem, it would be much appreciated

SOURCE: Nissan Altima 2000 - Engine oil leaking problem.

replace the front oil seal. first i would clean the engine with purple power (degrease etc.) then look at the engine and make sure the leak is not coming from above like possibly the valve cover gasket or from the oil sending unit. try to tighten the bolts on the valve cover and even the oil pan. you never know, you may get lucky. i don't know where you are but front seals are cheap but the labor on the job is what costs you.

How many km before I must replace my cambelt and tensioner on corsa B 2002 1,4i. driving short distances

100.000 klms is the recommended distance
the destroyer of belts is oil so when replacing the belt , idlers , hydraulic tensioners and crank and cam shaft seal should also be done as well
if there was signs of oil in the cover , reduce that to half the distance

Waterpump leaking

NO the leak is a clear indication that the water pump seal or the rubber bellows has failed and any stop seal will be moved out of the way by the action of the spinning shaft. Replacing the pump is the fix required.

For shop charges labor hourly rate the rate for a water pump on your vehicle is 2.1 hrly rate, standard is 4.2 hrly rate, this waterpump is part of the timing belt and while they are in there you or they should suggest camsaft seal and crank shaft seal with a new valve cover gasket

2001 Volvo s40 oil leaking in turbo, smokes white smoke and turbo not kicking in. I have a new head, timing belt waterpump, oxygen sens. valve job, cam pulley all changed. It is still smoking and no turbo....

Water in combustion chamber makes white smoke--suspect that the head gasket is leaking water into the chamber. If oil leaking around turbo, it may have a bad bearing and bad oil seal. Check waste gate valve and control.
