The brake lights dont work but the tail lights do they are the same bulb

The emergency four way switch could be stuck in the on position or half way position. Pull it all the way out and that might work. I had the same problem and that's all it was.

Yes they are the same bulbs,sounds like the brake light switch,located where the brake pedal is is not working

    sorry about the switch thing,i think i was having a senior moment, back to the problem,they are the same bulbs ,but each bulb has two filaments in it one for the brake lights the other is for running lights,also check the ground to the rear tail lamp assembly, hope this helps if not get back to me and we'll go from there

Blown fuse ,bad headlight switch,or wiring issue.
the tail lights have there own fuse and are powered through headlight switch. Do the front running lights come on? If none of them work, switch could be bad if front work and rears dont, check bulbs and power to them when lights are on

has to be somwhere in the wiring for the tail lamp brk light. if the high mount works the switch is good. did you put the correct bulbs in? they may share a common ground independant of the other lights.

tail lights work on a different filament than the rest of the lights you mentioned, it is possible both bulbs are burned out for that filament. if not, check the fuses as the tail light circuit in some cars is on a seperate fuse. the remaining possibility could be bad socket contacts.

Tail lights dont work


Replace the bulbs.
The bulbs will have two seperate elements in it which is why the brake light works.

Take the bulbs out and you will see the seperate elements.

No it is not controlled by the BCM the issue is most likely caused by the turn signal switch itself, a bad internal connection, very common on GM cars and trucks.
