My 2003 dodge durango keeps overheating , i just had new radiator put in and it started overheating again but now it is overheating with a very loud screeching noise like a belt sound what could be ca

as for noise will have to inspect under hood, could be fan or belt or pulley ,water pump .these are some things it could...My suggestion for overheating is replace thermostat. If your car has electric cooling fan then it may not be working..turn defrost on and if fan kicks on then fan motor is good..Now this does not mean that fan is working properly because fan is controlled by heat sensor switch that kicks fan on when motor reaches heat range......Things i would have checked....hope this information helps and good luck and Please rate my post...

Did it ever get really hot, If so it could have a head gasket problem,.You did just about everything, I would take and get presure tested. Could just be a calopased hose. Good luck on it.

2003 durango over heats at idle but temperature cools once moving. Is this my thermostat?

No it is not you're thermostat. You're cooling fan is not functioning. Most likely you will need to replace the fan clutch.

Overheating 2003 dodge durango. What could be the problem??

When engine running, ensure no engine combustion gas bubbles in coolant resevoir (if so, the head gasket is blown).

Check cooling fans are operating ok (when required when car warms up), if not check
1) fuse,
2) relay operation,
3) heat sensor switch.

Replace thermostat.
When re-filling cooling system, bleed off any airlock as necessary.

Check for collapsing (soft) coolant hose on suction side of waterpump when engine revs above idle.

2003 dodge durango overheating

I would have the cooling system serviced, complete backflush...the radiator could be so corroded it's beyond flushing and needs to rodded out or replaced... check the fan clutch for proper operation. Check the exhaust system...a plugged converter will create to much backpressure and cause over heating.
Too many overheats and your looking at potenial engine damage.
Good luck...i hope this helps, please rate me a fixya.

The dodge durango thermostat called for by the dealer is at the temperature of 192 you can solve this problem very simply by instaling a 160 thermostat that can be obtained at any parts store
