Hi, The best way to sort this is to take Log book/Title, proof of ownership and your identification to a Merc Dealership and they'll be only too glad to take some money off you for supplying the code.

I have a 1998 C180. If it is the original it is probably a Blaupunkt stero and uses a card which holds a code instead. A second card can be purchased and settings reset. You will have to go to Mercedes Dealer or car accessory who deal in Blaupunkt.

You can try to clean the ground behind the instrument cluster to see if that helps but most likely the sending unit has gone bad in the gas tank.
