The sparks when you disconnect the battery indicates there is a current draw. This is normal because all the computers store memory info - you would need to actually measure the total draw. If charging the battery or jumpstarting the car was resolving your No Start then you would want to take a more serious look at current draw on the system. But that doesn't sound like the case.
You say turning the key really hard will start sometimes - meaning? Physically turning the key further around than it would normally take?
That sounds like the ignition switch/lock cylinder may have damage. The chrysler lock cylinders used to have a collar that connected with the ignition switch - and it would crack/break. It would take more turning effort to crank the starter till it broke all the way.
If this is the case then replacing/repairing the ignition lock/switch assembly is the solution.
Let me know if this helps at all
Thanks

It is for an oil change mainly and any other service your maintenance manual suggests at the mileage interval. It needs to be reset after each oil change to be accurate.

SOURCE: 2004 Chrysler Pacifica Fluctuating Fuel Gauge Indicator

Hello, the answer to solve this problem is to take it to your nearest chrysler dealer and have them re-flash the updates to the ecu....since 2004, chrysler has had about 4-5 new updates since the date they were manufactured....you need to have the update that followed from your date of man. on your vehicle....They attempted to flash mine to the latest update and didnt work, turns out that they need the re-flash from back when...in order to get the gauage to stop fluctuating.....Hope this helps!!

SOURCE: 2004 Chrysler Crossfire- will not start

I had the same problem with my 2005 and I had it in and out of the dealership. After about 4 times of taking it in they found that it was a relay in the ignition system. I had problems with the car dieing as I was driving. I also had issues withe the car not starting after I got somewhere. When you try to start the car the lights and everything would come on but the engine would not turn over or make any noise at all. For me this was all under the factory warranty.

SOURCE: chrysler voyager wont start

hi, have exactly the same problem on a 2000 2.5 tdi, have rectified it by removing first fuse at top of box. This controls central locking, stereo & interior lights so now I just have to trace fault. when you reconnect battery I hear a relay clicking from both the left & right hand sides which seems to be on the bulkhead, these relays are not releasing and are discharging the battery after 3 days. If you can live without the above try it, your odometer light will go off too.
Will post soultion when I find it. pubredfox@gmail.com

The Battery CCA Rating is to turn over the starter

CCA--Cold Cranking Amps
That is at zero degrees
Total cranking amps is at 32 degrees

The car runs off the alternator
It puts out over 14 volts

The 12 volt battery is 6 cells @1.2 v each = 13.2 v

You need 12.6 volts to test a car or you charge it first

You need over 13 volts to charge a battery, thus the alternator

The only other job the battery has is a stabilizer in the electrical
circuit

So you need to have the charging system diagnosed as the
various light you have on should be off when engine first starts

Click in the starter wont start some time

tedjohnson50, It sounds like you have a starter solenoid problem. A weak solenoid on your starter will do this when you try to start the vehicle. A weak battery will do the same thing. A bad alternator will also cause these problems. So the first thing is to have your battery load tested and you charging system checked before you can condemn the starter. Good luck with this.

Where is starter located on 2004 chrysler pacifica???

Look around the "back" of the engine beside the transmission. The Starter connects to the flywheel to start the engine.
If you are replacing the starter you may want to consider doing this first;
) Have the charging system checked. Many auto parts stores and Sears will do this for free.
) Clean the battery terminal/connectors.
) Check the wiring from the battery to make sure it's good.

If you replace the starter yourself;
) Does your car have an anti-thief alarm ? If so find how to reset it if the battery is disconnected. Some alarms will shut down the car if the battery is disconnected !!
) DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.
) Disconnct the wiring to the starter.
) Remove the bolts holding the starter. Remove the harder one to reach first.
) Pull out the old starter.
) Put it the new starter.
) Bolt the new starter in. Put the easier bolt to reach first.
) Connect the wiring to the new starter.
) Re-connect the battery.
) If necessary reset the thief alarm.
) Take the old starter back for a core charge refund.

Car won't crank & makes a clicking noise when ignition is turned.

Is this the original battery? Have u had it tested? The no crank, clicking noise is classic dead battery symptoms, lights can still work, but not enough power to turn engine over. If it's the original battery, it's at the end of it's life cycle, and should be replaced. U can get the battery tested for free at any parts store.
