Question about 2000 Ford Taurus
It overheated and now it wont start but it makes a loud clunking noise when i try to start it and it sounds like its coming from the bottom of the motor or the back side of it and it doesnt even try to turn over what could it be
Depending on the severity of the overheat, I would suspect the engine may be hydrolocked. I would remove the spark plugs and then try to crank engine. If will then crank over, coolant coolant may emerge from spark plug holes. In which case internal engine damage is likely. ie head gasket, or cracked head/block.

SOURCE: 2001 Tarus clunking sound
very common problem is the sway bay end links that attach to the strut from the sway bar. They sound like a light chuckling knock over bumps. The bushings that hold the subframe up wear or the bolts loosed due to the bushings wearing. usually the rear ones The bushings are 2 piece ,upper and lower Tighten with 18mm socket
