Be sure the air is purged from system. The coolant pipe above the front valve cover near waterpump has a 7mm bleeder screw that will need to be loosened to purge air.

It is probably the problem. To make shure that need to change the gaskets, one of the symptoms use to be thet the temp rises when you are running at speed 50+ average, where is supposed that the car gets a lot of air due by the speed and nobody thinks that will be overheated.

CHECK YOUR RELAY IN YOUR FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE INNER FENDER. THE A/C AND THE HEATER RELAY ARE SAME. CHECK AND SEE IF THE A/C REALY WORKS BY TURNING ON YOUR A/C SWITCH. THE ELECTRIC FAN SHOULD START RIGHT AWAY. OTHERWISE YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE ENGINE ACHEIVES OPERATING TEMP TO KICK THE FAN ON. IF ONE DON'T WORK AND OTHER OTHER DOES... SWITCH THE RELAY AND SEE IF IT WORKS. BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT. $9.00 FOR A NEW RELAY AT CHECKER AUTO PARTS.

The 2.4L engine is , headgasket 12.7 hours, engine 20.8.
This is if you have ALL of the right tools and have experience.

Orginally, the temp gauge reads normal, drives fine, shut car sown and the reserve tank is boiling, changed the thermostat last night, let the car heat up drove it 2 blocks away, temp gauge shot up to hot...


2 blocks is fast to reach boiling.Take the cap off the overflow tank and fill it right to the very top with coolant.Start the car and watch for a steady stream of bubbles.If you see a steady stream you do need a head gasket or have a crack somewhere in a combustion camber.

92' Ford Explorer is running hot. Changed the thermostat, water-pump and flushed out cooling system. The coolant is boiling in the radiator, and overflowing out of the coolant reservoir.


sounds like a blockage like a dodgy thermostat, id test it by boiling a jug and throwing your new thermostat in the boiling water and see if it opens, other than that you've pretty much done it all so id be looking at a blown head gasket. good luck :)

My car is rumming hot and the antifreeze is leaking I'm thinking it's my water pump


It could be the water pump , or something else , like a faulty thermostat. Where is the coolant leaking from ? If it is leaking from the water pump , then yes , your pump might be toast.
If the thermostat is no good , the engine will warm up to normal temp , and then overheat quite quickly. As it overheats and the coolant expands and boils , it could back up into the overflow reservoir and leak out onto the ground. You need to get someone to diagnose the problem ASAP , running your engine in an overheat condition could very quickly blow your head gasket and/or warp a cylinder head. If you can , please post a bit more info. Does it run but at a higher than normal temp. Does it only overheat when stopped in traffic etc.
Could be water pump , or thermostat , or plugged up radiator , or nonfunctioning cooling fans.

You are going to need to replace you headgasket and do it soon,when that is done change the oil and the change it again after the first 2 hundred kms.

The heat gage indicates overheating.


hopefully its a bad gage drive it around and take a temp measurement but be careful- a drain on radiator bottom turns off an on let a little out if its above boiling farenheit theres a problem

Fiat Car Overheating


Ok, Take the overflow hose out of the overflow tank and opput the end in a glass or jar of water. Start the motor and watch gfor bubbles coming out of the hose in the water.. Little tiny smokey white bubbles mean you have a combustion leak into your cooling system. Possible head gasket seapage.good luck

could be your thermostat then if the radiator is not leaking if it was a cracked head you would notice ur car loosing a lot of power
