SOURCE: 96 honda civic ex runs hot

It is either a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Depending on which motor your civic has, this could be a tricky replacement, either way, you have to remove the head off of the motor, and then take the head to have it pressure checked to see if there is a crack in it. Nine times out of ten though, you can see a crack in the head with your eye, but you have to have the right "eye" to be able to see the crack.

Let the engine cooldown, then open the bleed screw on on the thermostat house,do not remove just loosen----fill water in the radiator bottle slowly and watch for water coming out of the bleed screw----
sometimes the bleed screw is blocked due to anti-freeze-then take the screw off completely ,clean and replace----always make sure the engine is cool

Runs hot sometimes. Top radiator hose hot, bottom cold. What's wrong?

top hose should be hot, all water from engine goes through upper hose, then radiator to cool and out lower hose.

Could be several things including a faulty fan, water pump, thermostat, or other blockage in the system.

1997 z-71 Cooling problem, changed thermostat but no water circulation. It got pretty hot when all this suddenly happened. truck starts and runs no white smoke.

Make sure its full of water or coolant and look at your water pump. There is a weep hole on it.Weep hole= really small hole on top side your water pump.If there is water coming out that hole and im sure there is your water pump pump needs to be replaced. If this is your problem no worry its really easy.Message me if you need instructions.

Runs hot has anti-frezze can it be water pump

it could be the pump, thermostat, or a bound up heater hose. I would start with a complete power flush, or buy the kit and do it yourself. Then replace the thermostat, if that doesn't work, then have the water pump replaced.

1997 eldorado still runs hot

Are you sure it's not air locked? Run it with the rad cap off and keep watching the water level. It might go up and down and then finally drop. Maybe even try letting some air out of one of your heater hoses if you can.
