Question about 1998 Pontiac Bonneville

1 Answer

No power and new battery in a 1998 pontiac bonneville ssei

Short?? bad wire? If either one of these is the problem then the bad wire or short should be along the battery cables or wires extending from the battery cable to other power sources? Correct?

SOURCE: Trunk wont open where is emergency switch inside trunk

I had the same problem as you. Take out the back seat and there is a large access hole to the interior. There are two bolts that are fairly easy to get to. Remove them and the truck latch is removed from the lid and trunk will open.

SOURCE: 1998 Pontiac transport van wont start:

Well you hit all the major ones, could be crank position sensor, ignition module, a bad coil pack (it should have 3), you need to check that you have spark to each plug while the engine is turning over (!!!be careful as this will hurt if you get shocked!!!), this will rule out coil packs. if you have no spark to any plug your looking at a bad ingnition module (which is what the coil packs bolt to). Hope this gets you on the right track!

SOURCE: Serpentine belt diagram for a 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI

these motors have two carrier pulleys and oone tensioner. lookinjg at the motor from the rightside of car the belt goes as follaws: crank pully to super charger from the left. the right side goes up to the lower carrier which will have the flat of the belt riding on it. from there the belt routes to the upper carrier
[ loop it over so the grooves ride
] and then under the tensioner any questions contact goldenvegasart@gmail.com

I need to replace drivebelt on a 98 SSEi and I cant get the new belt past supercharger idler pulley

I believe that the Bonneville's have a motor mount that needs to be unbolted to get the belt out. I had to go to a mechanic to get mine done.

98 bonneville ssei 3.8 supercharged. problem; #4 cylinder misfiring

How long has it been since a tune up? I'd suggest plugs, wires, etc. (don't forget air and fuel filters while you're at it.)

My 1997 pontiac boneville SSEI cooling fans never come on

Hey i have a 96 Bonneville SE :) I had the same problem....., First off .

Unplug you're fans.. Take some wires, ( i used speaker wire. ) Have someone help you, :) connect it to you're fan and then to the battery one to ground one to power. If you're fan doesn't turn on then you're motor in the fan is dead.

2nd. Check you're relays, Easy way to do this is switch them around one by one... They can't all be bad :P and if it turns on.. then you have a bad relay:P

3rd. Does you're Temp gauge work? There are a few sensors That could need to be replaced.

Trying to change water pump on my 1998 bonneville ssei, there is a bolt behind the power steering pump. do i have to remove power steering pump? if so, how?

Ok here it is. Remove the two bolts thru the holes in the power steering pump pulley. Leave the power steering pump where it is just move it aside a little to access the bolt or bolts. Then it is hard to line up the power steering holes to the block so be careful and good luck.

98 pontiac bonneville ssei misfiring at 30-45 mph. or when i try to get it to perform.

just fixed a car with a similar problem. check your crankshaft positioning sensor, then replace the plate that the coils sit on, it has went bad. the coils should be fine but that plate tells it when to fire.

Our Pontiac Bonneville ssei battery is charging at 14.9 volts

that is too high 14.4 should be the max.  However, a bad or weak battery may keep the voltage up.
