SOURCE: add tranny fluid on 2001 pontiac grand am?

I had the same problem and it got worse. I was losing fluid from the steel lines used to circulate the fluid through the rad. If this is where your leak is, trust me, you'll know. They start behind the bottom of the rad coming out of two sort of rubber lines. Both needed replacing on mine.
There is a filler cap, but it ain't easy to get at,lol. The ram air manifold has to be completely removed. Next, ( I hope you have access to a car hoist ) raise the car high enough to back off the overflow screw located on the passenger side of the tranny about 3 inches up ( find a website for the exact location ) Start the car. When up to operating temp, add fluid until it starts to come out of the overflow screw you backed off. Climb back down and tighten that screw! The computer controlled air flow will now have to be adjusted with one of those gadgets used for reading and adjusting the codes after you put it all back together or it will run like ****.

SOURCE: 1997 pontiac sunfire no ****** dip stick how much fluid to put in

It will probably be easier to take it to a regular repair shop to have it checked. There is a small bolt that comes out to verify fluid level after it's warmed up and still running. It's too hard to describe where the level plug is located and it can be dangerous to check & fill without experience.

How do I check/add trans. fluid?

on these models, it is not necessary to check the fluid at regular intervals. (with no dip stick ). unless there is a leak or shifting problem. Here is how you would go to change the fluid! heres how to check it! Raise and support the car with jack stands, put drain pan in place under tranny, remove the front and side transaxle pan bolts. loosen the rear pan bolts one turn. carefully pry pan loose with a screwdriver, to drain the fluid. When drained, remove remaining bolts on pan. use a new gasket on pan if needed to put back on.(( FLUID LEVEL CHECK: vehicle has to be level! start vehicle let run for 3-5 minutes, shift through all the gears, locate fill plug on top of transaxle. it is on the drivers side ( look and you shall find it.) the check plug is located near the pan. adjacent to the drain plug. remove the plug, when fluid drips out of drain hole. fluid level is ok. the fluid level should be at the bottom of the drain plug. The reason I know, is because my 2000 Malibu was the same! When replacing the pan put in bolts . working around pan tighten each bolt a little at a time. until the final torque is reached. God -_Bless! if pan was removed.

How to put transmission fluid in a pontiac G5 4 cylinder

when you remove the tranny fluid level plug the fluid should be level with the bottom of the plug. Remove the pan, clean out bottom of pan for debris, fill with GM new fluid to bottom of plug line. Ensure vehicle is on a flat surface when doing so.

Where is the dipstick for transmittion fluid

on these models, it is not necessary to check the fluid at regular intervals. if leaks or shifting problems lead you to suspect a low fluid level, its a sealed system. heres how to check tranny fluid. with vehicle raised and supported. start the engine , then move gear selector through all gears and back to park. with engine running and the transaxle at normal operating tempurature( having idled for 3 to 5 minutes), locate check plug on transaxle. the plug is located by the pan, across from oil drain plug. remove plug, the level should be at bottom of check hole. if fluid pours out a lot, then it is over full. also make sure car is level before starting. the fill cap is on top of transaxle, use a long neck funnel to fill if needed. the cap is usually red.<!-- from fixya rte -->

There is no tranny dipstick. The car has to be put up on a lift with the engine running and there is a plug in the case of the tranmission which has to be removed and the fluid level is checked there. On front of trans is a plug

Where is the sunfire 2003 transmission dipstick located

Pontiac designed a "sealed system" and they think that if there's not a leak, then there's no need to check the fluid level.
There is however a plug on the side of the tranny pan...jack the car up to check level there.

Where do you check transmission fluid 1995 pontiac firebird manual transmission 3.4 liter

Actually, on the manual tranny its more like a thin grease. There is a plug located on the side of the transmission, When you remove the plug, you should be able to stick your pinky in the hole and get a little grease on your finger. The fill line is to the bottom of the plug.
