Open Question

No throttle I have a 1994 mercedes S500 the car has been well maintained its whole life. When I start the car it idles fine but has no throttle, when you push the accelerator the RPM does not increase, if i shut the car off and restart it its fine. It happens 1 out of 20 starts and has been happening for a long time. It even happens sometimes when I'm driving and if I pull over shut it off and restart it its fine. Any help would be appreciated. Somtimes my throttle dose not work on my s500

this car uses electronic throttle controls, when a fault occurs in the electronics the computer (ECM) limits the amount of travel the throttle can open to limit the load on the engine to prevent any further damage, when the fault clears itself as they often do the throttles are returned to normal operation, the limited throttle is called "Limp mode", what u need to do now is have the dealer test the computer (ECM) for fault codes that may be stored to explain why the system was put in "Limp mode" with the resulting loose of throttle control..

Hi ,I have a 190e 2.6 my problem is she dies when on ideling for 10 min and when cold starts she flutters then gets the rev.Thank you ZFY

Not sure about this specific car... but most have an idle solenoid, a small elecrtric motor that has a rod that slides in and out pushing against the throttle, the mechanism that controls engine speed. When you gas pedal is pushed you can see the throttle moving in the engine compartment. Sometimes the problem is the solenoid itself, or sensors that feed the computer faulty info about how to maintain the idle. D you have a check engine light on? If so, some auto stores can determine what the problem is by using a device that asks the car computer what part triggered the check engine light. Please rate answer.

My 1995 mercedes S500 idles rough, and no power. Smells terrible of fuel. Sputters on acceleration. Check engine light came on . Acts as if to stall but keeps sputtering. Literally shakes the car.

I had a similar problem with my 1994 S420.
Before taking it to the shop check the following:
Distributor covers, Rotors and Spark Plugs. That's what my car needed. Before I did it two "specialized" MB mechanics wanted to replace the engine wiring harness ($1,000.00) and the other wanted to replace Air mass sensor, throttle valve actuator ($2,000.00) I hope that's all you need.

1994 C220 mercedes stalling problems

check your main harness wire. The harness wire becomes brittle and will eventually short circuit your car. Stalling and hard starting is the initial symptom. If not replaced soon, your car will smoke and eventually affect your computer box

On a 1995 S500 Mercedes , ASR light keeps coming on

yes they can but unlikely-more likely a bad over voltage relay(powers up idle speed computer) or wire harness-your vehicle is probably a hfm type fuel injection they changed from lh that year. find out if it is lh check the fuses in the base module located in the passenger side of the engine compartment under a cover held in by 4mm allen head bolts-alot of times these control units have intermittent contact with there connectors. asr stands for acceleration slip regulation-both isc and asr communicate via can system to monitor throttle position- ea isc cc-idle speed cruise control and electronic actuater(throttle)-hopefully i have helped

Volvo will start, and then turn off in about 3

Check the Idle air controller. This is a motor with two hoses running to is. One is from the intake and one is from the hose before the throttle body. This piece is made by Bosch and is right above the throttle linkage and throttle body. If you have a leak or the control motor is bad, then you will have a significant problem getting the car to idle. Check ALL of the vacuum lines for the car. specifically everything that is connected to the intake. Check your fuel pressure to ensure that it is maintaining a level within spec. You should be pushing a minimum of 43.5 psi and no more than 86 psi.
