First thing to check is the battery voltage could be something as easy as a flat battery, an easy check is turn the lights on with ignition off are they working? If you have a good battery a common problem especially if been recently serviced is the central junction box which is located behind/ under the glovebox check it's all connected properly as the multi plugs sometimes come adrift that's the first checks I would try

What ignition lights? I didn't know it has any. Perhaps you are trying to use technical terms incorrectly? Does it make ANY sound when you turn the key to start?

I replaced the key and tumblers on my 2003 ford focus. How do I reset security

In order to learn a new PATS system key you will need to have two original keys. You would insert one of the existing keys into the ignition. turn it on and off. you would insert the second existing key into the ignition and turn it on for at least 1 second and turn it off. Insert the new key, within 20 seconds, turn the ignition on for a second and turn the ignition off. the security light will will either flash or stay on for a couple of seconds (i don't remember specifically) to let you know you added the new key successfully.

Since it sounds like you are no longer able to do this you have two options.

1. you can pull the new lock cylinder out and have it coded to your original key and then use the original key(s) to start the vehicle.

2. you will have to have the vehicle towed to the ford dealer and have them program the new master key.

let me know if you have any questions and thank you for using fixya.con!

If this is an automatic, make sure your lever is fully in park, if not this will cause a no start condition. if it is in park, you could have a faulty neutral safety switch or fault in ignition switch. Check the ignition fuses in your fuse compartment especially the one for ignition.

Apparently the computer "thinks" that the key is in the ignition. This can be verified by scanning the body controller data while it is doing this. You will most likely end up having to replace your ignition switch to fix it. Also, if the ignition switch is replaced, the computer will have to be reprogrammed to accept the new ignition switch. Otherwise, you will have problems with your security system and the car will not start.

05 ford focus, key won't turn in the ignition, tried both sets of keys.

Try wiggling the key and tapping near the ignition and see.If the Key starts turning in the ignition. Also spray wd-40 in the ignition switch hole and let the wd-40 spray liquid remain in there for 30 minutes then see if you can turn the key in ignition.Try this wd-40 spray couple of times,if still the same problem then, the ignition has to be replaced. Also the keys are to be reprogrammed by the dealer.Without getting your car key reprogrammed they will not work with new ignition lock cylinder. This problem is very common in ford focus, many other users too have noticed this and are very disappointed with the ford service due to this problem.Click this link directly to see the same problem with other ford focus users;--- http://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Focus/2003/accessories-interior/key_wont_turn_in_the_ignition.shtml ----------------- Thank you.

Engine won't crank or seem to get power on key turn.

More than likely, your starter has gone out. If the battery is fully charged and its not even turning over, that is what i would start with.
