Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a 1997 chrysler sebring convertible. We just bought it a few weeks ago. The guy had mentioned something about the alarm but cant remember exactly what he said. Last night i unlocked the car on the passenger side opened the door and the alarm started going off. I unlocked the doors and went to the driver door and tried to start it but it kept going off and only runs for a few seconds. I tried disconnecting the neg cable on the battery. Tried unlocking all the doors and trunk. How can I get my car fixed?

Disconnect the alarm or the horn it connects to until you can get it fixed or live without it.

1997 sebring convertible anti theft device oem armed itself .Now i cant get car to start . Havent had the remote for 5 yrs just the original key. Tried locking then unlocking drivers door. Then both doors...

ok try this take the negative wire off the battery overnight then come back and rehook up the negative if this does not work ur best bet is to have it towed to a dealer or if there is a sears in that mall they might be able to help the reason the car keeps cutting off is it the alarm is sending a signal to the fuel pump witch in turn is starving the engine of gas

Chrysler Sebring 2004 Convertible Bad Battery Charge Problems

I would look at the alternator. I had a grand am that would do that to me, even with a brand new battery. The alternator output wasn't able to run the vehicle and charge the battery. Alternators are picky things, especially being in Canada (which I assume from the KM), the hot and cold cycles don't play nicely with the brushes and core. I'd have the alternator checked and replaced if needed.

2001 Sebring Convertible Starter Fuse Problem

The reason that you are blowing fuses is that your starter is drawing too much current. This usually means that the starter is failing (too much internal resistance). By increasing the size of the fuse yoiu are running more current through the wires than they are designed to handle. This can melt the insulation and maybe start a fire.

1997 Sebring starts, then stalls

You need to disarm the alarm, the 2 problems are related, the start and stall is caused by the fuel pump interupt function of the factory alarm, you triggered it when you replaced the battery, The reset procedure is in the owners manual.
