Question about Cars & Trucks
Hello, I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox with OEM radio/cd player. Last week I had problems with several things... 1. The drivers side doors wouldn't lock with or without the key FOB. 2. The passenger side doors wouldn't unlock. 3. While attempting to use my key FOB, the horn went off a few times. 4. Also, several times, my radio would not shut off when I shut off the car and opened the door. A technician at work said there was a broken wire in the wires which run where the door hinges. He repaired the wire, and all of the above issues disappeared. A few days later I noticed my cd player has no sound. It seems to read the cd...according to the display, but no sound. The radio works fine though. Any ideas? Do you think there is any correlation between the previous problems and the cd player issue? Thanks for any insight.
Should be no connection between the two. Those vehicles are always having problems with the radio units in them. You will either have toi get the radio fixed or find a used one at the wrecking yard but then will have to go to the dealer to get the security code done to make it work or get a after market unit. I would say go to a after market unit.

could be a partially broken wire in the wiring harness that runs in the door track. the wires are inside what looks like a plastic chain that allows it to move with the door and have seen them partially break not allowing power to flow the whole time

SOURCE: Chevy Impala Door lock issue
Which is it, 98 Eclipse, or 06 Impala? Either way, your door lock actuator is stuck in the locked position either electrically or mechaically. The way to check this is to remove the door panel and unplug the actuator. If door lock can now be moved then you have an electrical problem (faulty door lock switch or faulty door lock module). If you still cannot unlock door then actuator is mechanically bad and must be replace (usually the case)

If this happen to others check with VW to is if there is a recall on it. You can also check on the Web to see if there is a recall on it. If there is VW will fix it free.

SOURCE: I have a 2005 Toyota
this may be due to a bad actuator lock on the driver door , if you lock the doors using the inside door button and you get the same doors locking without the driver door locking then this is the actuator lock thats bad, this is a motor that controls the lock linkage, most newwer cars and trucks when this part goes bad the latch needs to be replaced as the lock motor is all part of the latch, the door panel would have to e removed and the latch replaced, good day.
