Radio comes on when door closes even with engine off

I have a 1997 Chevy Lumina and everytime i close my door the radio comes on even if the car is off. I can open the door and the radio turns off, but as soon as the door closes the radio comes back on. What is the problem?

This is an obvious short or a pinched wire. Start by checking the wires that go to the door for the locks, power windows, side view mirror etc. Bend and pull gently on each until the radio comes on. Remember it only comes on when the door is closed so try to copy the shape the wires would take in that position. Good luck.

The radio won't go off on my 07 Yukon when I turn off the engine and open the door

Do courtesy lights come on and go off when you open and then close the drivers door?

if courtesy lights work as expected then the BCM is communicating properly with the door control module, i.e. it knows the door was opened and closed, so likely the problem is between the the BCM and the radio (low speed comm bus) or the radio itself.

A scanner capable of presenting the BCM, door control module, and radio states will likely be required to determine the fault location.

is the CEL/MIL indicator lit?

Even though driver door is closed, command screen says Driver Door Ajar.Interior lights stay on,except in drive.Even radio shuts off immediatly after shutting ignition off.Do I need to replace sensor??

Usually the solution to this problem is to use a good penetrating oil and spray HEAVILY the latch mechanism (both doors), let it soak in, and open/close the door 15-20 times-the sensor is in the door and it gets hung up, spraying lubricant on the latches frees it up.

My 2006 Ford Fusion's radio won't turn off. Everytime I take the keys out and open the door the radio doesn't cut off!! Why!!!

U have a defective door ajar switch most likely, if this switch remains closed then the delayed exit feature stays on, this means the radio will stay on because the delayed exit module didn't sense the door was opened, try opening the passenger door to confirm this problem, any door should turn off the radio
