SOURCE: High idle speed when the engine is cold

The high idle speed at start up is normal. As the engine temperature increases, the engine idle should kick down automatically. Insofar as the emissions results, if there were a problem, the check engine light should be on. If it is, take the car to an autoparts store and have the fault codes read. Most parts stores will perform the scan for free. If the check engine light is not on, and the idle question was all you were worried about, you are good to go! Hope this helped and best wishes.

2001 Tundra 4.7 L won't idle when cold. Has new plugs and coils.

The coolant temperature sensor signal to the computer determines fuel injection ratio. When it fails the car will be slow to start and a strong odor of gasoline. turn it off and it will start as normal. A failed sensor will also cause stall at idle speed and poor gas milage. the sensor is located near the top radiator hose connection at the thermostat housing.Use a 19 MM deep well socket.

My 1994 5-speed manual Pathfinder sputters and jerks when it's cold

Here are the common cause of surges, stalls at stops, slow idle speed, erratic idle, it is in most cases the idle speed control air-bypass valve and/or throttle valve and upper intake, these area's get full of gunk and combustion residue over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls, low idle) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving

Replaced battery 2002 Toy Tundra will not idle

Remove the air intake tube from the throttle body. Take a rag and spray it down real good with some carb cleaner. Push open the T-body plate and wipe out all the black build up you see. Take you time and get as much as you can. Reinstall the tube and your idle should return to normal.

High idle at start, using tremendous amount of fuel

How high is the idle speed? I know Tundras, especially the V8s have a high idle speed in order to heat up the engine because it runs better at a higher temp and also because the heat wont blow until the engine is warm
