SOURCE: tire pressure monitor

32 psiis actually low for a 3500. I have a 1500 silverado that runs 44 psi cold. The tire inflation monitor , monitors inflated cirunference. Sooooo, If it isn'nt round enough, it will let you know. Driving warms up both the air and the tire, off course changing everything again. Pressure is up and tire is bigger. Ask me not how it can tell what is going on with the tire sitting still. I'm only on page 9,000, the answer is here somewher. :-) Well good luck. I do know the above is accurate._Ned_

SOURCE: I have a reoccuring code P0171 that sets when the

probably leaky intake manifold gaskets. Get some carb cleaner and spray it on the gaskets when it's doing that. If the engine revs at all when you spray the gaskets, they are leaking. 0171 is bank 1, so it should happen on the right side of the engine as you look at it from the belts. Let me know if this isn't it or you have any questions.

I assume from the question that the engine is cranking over but will not start. Hence there is no issue with the starter motor on a very cold start.

At 40 degrees F you are getting closer to freezing. When this happens again I would check the operation of the fuel pump.
Take the fuel cap off the fuel tank and have someone switch the ignition on and off a few times. (just the ignition - don't start the engine up). Turn it on for 10 seconds or so and then off. If you listen at the fuel filler opening with the cap off you will be able to hear if the fuel pump starts and stops. If it is working it should start and then stop a few seconds later each time you switch on the ignition because the computer shuts it down in a few seconds if the engine is not started.

If the fuel pump is operating I would be looking for some electrical gremlins. You would need to check that the fuel injectors are getting power and that the spark plugs are also.

Ideally you would need to a quality scan tool connected to the car when you have this very cold no start condition whilst trying to start the car to see what faults may be present because it should pick up some malfunction if the start problem goes away when the temp rises a few degrees over 40F.

When its cold my lincoln will not start till after i try for 15 min fuel pump sounds like its sputters , but if it is warm it will start no promblem....

Hello.
If the outside temperature is below 32 degrees, your battery loses as much as 15% of the amps that are responsible for turning the engine over.
On your battery you should have a sticker that shows a rating for "Cranking amps," ( CA ) above 32 degrees, and "Cold crancking amps" ( CCA ), below 32 degrees. Your car most likely needs atleast 700 CCA.

Also, if you do not have a maintenance free battery, ( It should say right on the sticker if it is. ), you may want to check the levels in your battery. If the cells are low it will prevent the battery from reaching a full charge.

I hope this helps you

i am a chrysler dealership technition and it sounds to me like you have a faulty skim module. it could be that when the electronics are cold it is causing a chip in the module to fail these are not uncommon to fail. if you contact chrysler customer service and complain loud enough they will take care of it.

Onboard Temp gauge

This probably occurs when you start up after the engine has been off for a few hours. What is happening is that the module is taking a new temp reading however heat from the radiator is causing the sensor to read a warmer value than it really is. I suggest that you relocate the temp sensor further away from the radiator and closer to the grill opening in order to read actual ambient temp (approx 6" should work).
