On almost all 4.6s the pcv is on the passenger valve cover. it is usually black and has a hose going to it. the hose is about 1/2" or more in diameter. just pull out of cover and pull off hose to replace. why do you want to replace?

Where is the pcv filter located on a 2003 Silverado 5.3 liter? how do I replace the original filter?

Hi!!
The PCV valve is located on top of the Valve Cover, it is held in place by a rubber grommet and has a vacuum hose connected to it. The PCV valve can be easier to remove if you just pull the vacuum hose (with the valve attached) straight out and then remove the valve from the vacuum hose. Here is a picture of the PCV valve for easier identification.
A HELPFUL - 4 THUMBS - rating for this solution would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for using FixYa.

Where is the PCV valve on a 2000 Mercury Mystique 2.0?

Here are some pictures showing where the pcv valve is located on the 2000 Mercury Mystique, 4 cylinder.

First we see the engine compartment:

Next we will see a closeup of the area circled in red.

cyborg1957_0.jpg
here I have outlined the PCV valve in red and the thermostat housing is circled in green. The pipe connected to the PCV is rigid metal. It is screwed to the motor, so you must remove the screw before you can pull on the pipe in order to extract the PCV valve. The screw is located underneath the thermostat housing, so the housing must be removed in order to get at the screw.

The head of the screw is inside the orange circle. I had to use a torx bit. Yours may be a phillips head. Here are a couple of closeups:

After I replaced the valve, my car was still surging at stoplights, so I started doing more troubleshooting. Lying under the car, looking at the side of the engine closest to the firewall, I saw a hole in a rubber tube. I crawled out and located this hose. If you follow the metal tube that the PCV valve is held in, you will find that it is inserted into a rubber hose after you get past the thermostat housing and it continues on to the back side of the engine. It turns out that this is the hose that I observed while lying on my back under the car. Apparently there is a bend in the hose and at that bend it fails due to heat buildup. Oh, well.

When I went to the dealer, his 2000 Mystique diagrams did not show this part, but he made a guess and it was the right part. Make sure and take the one from your car to the dealership for comparison. After replacing the piece of hose, the car runs perfectly :) .

Location of pcv valve on 03 ford focus

http://www.focushacks.com/images/pcv.jpg
Here's a picture to locate it..
So, when looking at the engine from above, on the right of the exhaust.

Procedure to replace it
1) Lift and support the front end of your car, or drive up on ramps
2) Get under the front of your car. The PCV Valve is located behind the exhaust manifold, a few inches below the valve cover.
3) Push up on the PCV valve to pop it out of the tube, or pull. You can get it out of the rubber tube with some effort.
4) Remove the rubber elbow from the top of the PCV valve. This can be re-used if it's not squishy. It can also be replaced cheaply.
5) Put the elbow on the new PCV Valve
6) Re-attach the elbow to the PCV tube
7) Push the new PCV valve back down into the large rubber tube

Where is the pcv valve on a 2001 mercury couagar

4 cylinder or 6?

v-6

The PCV Monitor consists of a modified PCV system design. The PCV valve is installed into the rocker cover using a quater-turn cam-lock design to prevent accidental disconnection. High retention force molded plastic lines are used from the PCV valve to the intake manifold. The diameter of the lines and the intake manifold entry fitting are increased so that inadvertent disconnection of the lines after a vehicle is serviced will cause either an immediate engine stall or will not allow the engine to be restarted.
