SOURCE: Changing the starter solenoid on a 2000 Pontiac Montana

On your van the solenoid is attached to the starter. If you can get a solenoid separate (i don't know if you can) then you will need to take the starter off and remove the solenoid (2 screws holding it on) and the wires (on red and one black i believe) pay attention to which wire goes where because you don't want to reverse it on the new solenoid.

SOURCE: 2003 pontiac montana leaks condensate water in the drivers floor

Bet the drain is clogged with leaves. Look under the blower motor under the hood. Can almost be that the cowling has been filled with leaves at one time or another. Got to clean that stuff out every now and then.

00 pontiac montana wipers stay up?

I would bet these are controlled by some type of motor relay or wiper control module. I would browse a Haynes Manual ( and see there is a part that could be easily acquired new or used from a salvage yard.

2004 Pontiac Montana - problems with my speedometer, gas and temperature gauges ... sometimes they work, sometimes they don't work. This has been going on for months. Fuses were checked and are fine....

Unfortunately, GM really screwed up the 2003-2006 instrument panels and there have been thousands of problems but not recalls so far. You might want to consider a complete rebuild of your instrument cluster. There are multiple on-line places that you can send your instrument panel into and they will completely rebuild your instrument cluster and replace the dashboard lighting also. Most of them charge in the $200.00 range for this service. is just one of the many rebuild services available

General instructions on how to remove your instrument panel -

2000 Pontiac Montana . Goes into gear hard when it shifts. Has 140000 miles on it.

It sounds like the pressure control solenoid inside the transmission. With that many miles I would suggest going ahead and rebuilding it. You need to remove the transmission from the van anyway to replace the solenoid. I have rebuild several of these, be sure to put in a shift kit, it makes a big difference. I've rebuilt them before and wasn't happy with the way it shifted, so I pull it back out, put in the kit and that did the trick. So, needless to say, I always put the kit in the first time. Although, I do know a guy that changed his filter and added some Lucus oil treatment for the transmission to the new oil, and he says he hasn't had that problem sence........makes me wonder.

you can rebuild it. the kits are orderable from your auto parts store but are about the same price as a rebuilt starter after you turn in your core. i would try looking online for the starter you need there are lots of warehouses that sell over stocked or common parts like that for less than your local parts store.

Where is the 2-3 shift solenoid located on the 2004 pontiac montana and how much is the replacement part and repair job

The solenoid is inside the valve body, If you remove the pan, the filter, you are looking at the valve body. You can remove it, replace the solenoid, but it is no guarantee that it will fix the problem. It could be a number of things, lost ground, low fluid. the part is about $75, and the repair is fairly simple, but a tranny shop will tell you it is shot, you need a rebuild, and they want $1400 . So, if you know someone who can change the fluid, they can change the solenoid. But remember, it is no guarantee. i just did mine, didn't work. Hope this helps.

2000 pontiac montana wont go into 4th gear

I would be interested in knowing if the thermostat is sticking open. Most Overdrives are prevented from engaging until the coolant temperature is over 177 degress F. Check you temp gauge...does it read Low? If so, change the t'stat, and see if that fixes your problem, or, if that does not help, get a complete transmission FLUSH, BEFORE you go out and get a rebuild. You just might save a ton of money.
