The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists. From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second. When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains it pretty well.

How do I bypass the passkeylock on a 1996 Chevy 1500

The best thing is to fix it properly. There is info all over the web about bypassing the pellet in the key. They use proper resister with a jumper wire across the proper wires, under the dash. It just bypasses the pellet in the key and some wiring in the steering column. If problem is somewhere else in the security system, using that bypass won't work.

There may be some aftermarket remote start systems that may bypass everything, I don't know?
I need vehicle model and engine size, I couldn't find security wiring diagram?

2001 jeep grand cherokee limited is armed but lost keyless entry remote and wont start. is there anyway to bypass alarm so it will start?

Usually you can lock all the doors. Open the drivers door with the key, this will unarm the security. If not, try the passenger side.

Anti theft system bypass

Other than just bypassing the whole security system {cutting and splicing wires} 2 things, check the battery in the remote, if that still fails take the remote to the dealer {Oriely Autos also have remote testers} and ask them to test it for you, saves you pulling wires and shorting the system out completely. good luck.

I have a 08 1500 and my remote starter wont start the truck, the security system goes off if i try to lock/unlock the doors but won't start the truck. I looked on the website and they don't have a manual...

Does the key start the vehicle. Does the parklights flash a set number of times. The bypass kit may have lost programming or updating. You can check the programming procedure I believe at

I installed a pljx vats (keyless entry) bypass to remote start. When I try to remote start the system turns on but does not crank, (security light starts blinking) its when I insert the key that the remote...

For some reasons the bypass is not working, so you need the key to be recognized by the Theft Deterrent Module (TDM) before the fuel enable signal to the PCM can be activated.
There is a great DIY way of bypassing the VATS system entirely, including the TDM (that goes faulty very often with the age of the car). You can find the write-up here:
