I have a 2002 kia rio cinco changed radiator and fan assembly. Thermostat is out but it still heats up on me! Whats the problem?

Sounds like the water pump if you have had all that done. Remover the filler cap on the engine that says "DO NOT OPEN WHEN HOT" please dont open it when hot. check that it is full and you don't have an airlock (it will fill your header bottle as well if you go right to the top. Start the engine and you should see the water circulating top up if it goes down. If when the engine is running, the water gets blown out with force then I would be looking at cylinder head or gasket problem. If after topping up in the engine water point, and you can see water circulating, top it right up and replace the cap. providing you have no leaks this should have cured the overheating. No circulation means, change the water pump. Hope that helps.

How can i troubleshoot my heater core

It's just a simple small radiator. Coolant circulates through it, and the cores' fins give off heat that is picked up by the blower motor.
When the engine is at normal operating temperature, feel the two heater hoses. Both should be hot, verifying coolant is circulating through it. If only one is hot, the core may be plugged or have an air block. You can take off the core outlet hose and observe stream flow when engine is running and heater on high heat-flow should be slow but steady. The outlet hose will run from the firewall to the front of the engine into a fitting near the water pump. Some cars have a water valve in one of the hoses-make sure it is open, for coolant to circulate.

Engine overheating

check for water coolant circulation. either you might have a clogged radiator or faulty water pump. to check the radiator after you run the engine for a while switch it off and try to find an easy access to radiator vents and touch all surface to see whether is all ho or if is some, then you remove it and send it for cleaning. as regards water pump, take the thermostat out put water in and start the engine follow the water circulation when you rev.if it rotates the water pump is working if is steady and coming upwards to over flow then the water pump is faulty. Also the other possibility is the matrix to be clogged..

Water is not circulating through motor causing car to run hot

replace thermostat as if its not working it is not letting cooled water from radiator to curculate engine. if not done it could do damage ie head gasket, warp head

No water circulation round heater matrix all flaps switchs an blowers working correctly.

Heater tap opening for 100% water pump circulating water properly,(look at radiator cap opening when running, just dont open when too hot as it will have pressure and spill hot water, but look to see if its flowing when you rev the engine). If you pull the 2 pipes off the heater core under hood does water flow through it,blocked)1 of these things will be the issue but will need to eliminate each one to know

Engine temp goes hot when A/C is running. A/C

Possible loose AC belt but more likely a water pump issue. Putting the AC on puts more strain on the water pump to circulate coolant which also would impact the AC performance.

Engine runs hot, fan comes on & stays on.

Try to see if the water is circulating in the system. Better way to check without burning yourself is to take the thermostat out and run the engine this way it should start circulating right away. If the impeller on the water pump is not turning the water wont circulate.
I have seen this in a VW Jetta but don't know what type of w/pump is in your Honda.

if running hot at idle could be water pump not circulating enough try revving engine some and see if temp comes down. also check your fan clutch.
if running hot going down road probably radiator
