Wipers on 1988 ford f150 not working properly

Wipers on 1988 f150 only work on high for 2or3 swipes, then stop then creep back then word 1or2 more swipes , I have replaced wiper switch ,& wiper motor, still same thing. I have found that there is no fuse on fuse diagram for wipers. If I unplug top or front wiring harness , they work just fine on high speed only.

SOURCE: ford f150 windshield wiper bushing diagram

sounds like a loose nut. there are nuts that hold the wiper arms on, they may be under a cover but theyre at the base of the wiper arm. also there's a nut that holds the wiper linkage onto the wiper motor. if you can move the wipers independently, it's the nuts connecting the wiper arms.if you move one arm and the other moves with it, it's the nut holding the linkage to the motor.

Wipers worked for 1 swipe and stopped straight up. Motor sound is audible. Wipers stopped swiping.

At the base of the wiper there is a nut, it might be under a snap on cover. Move the wiper arm down into parked position, tighten the nut and the wipers should work. That is most likely the case but... If not it could be the ball and socket on the mechanism under the fresh air vent. Last option is the wiper motor gear drive.

Wiper works ok on low & high. when runs on timer it stops on 1/3 swipe, after 3 swipes back to orginal starting point. Now when turned on can smell wire burning or motor over heating causing the smell....

Ok I have been haven the same problem out of my 2003 dodge dakota I took it in because there was a recall on the wiper motor on some dodges they have recalled them because water was getting inside the motor and causen them to short or loose half of the functions. I would recomend calling the dealership and see if you car is on that list. If not I think it would be good to say its the motor.

My left windshield wiper on 1998 ford f150 has stopped working. The rignt one still works.

Check the wiper armature, sometimes the pins come loose that connect both sides to the wiper motor, the armature should be located under the cowl at the firewall, you will see the metal arm assemblies under it, just check to see if one of them came loose. Hope this helps.
