  • mine did the same thing and I had it in the shop several times. Chrysler had a guy to come to the shop where mine was and found out that the electric had shorted out from the a/c. So they had to take out the whole dash and re-wired. $650.00, now if you have not gone over 75,000 it will still be covered. hope this helps. Aliso

SOURCE: air bag light comes on intermdiately

it is the sensor located under the dashboard area. you can buy another one off the internet for 50.00. with instructions on how to remove the old one and then send it back for your deposit back. however, my light also comes on and off when the weather changes. i would ignore it unless it stays on for a few days. all it means is your airbag isnt working. i lived most my life without airbags.

SOURCE: Jeep Commander Rear Brake Pad Installation

Per Chilton Auto repair manual:

  1. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear wheel.
  3. Siphon a small amount of brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.
  4. Insert a small prybar through the caliper opening and pry the caliper cover (using the outboard brake pad) to bottom the piston in the caliper bore.

  6. Remove the caliper from the anchor.

WARNING Support the brake caliper with mechanics wire. Do not let the caliper hang by the brake hose.
  7. Remove the brake pads from the caliper.
To install:
  1. Install the brake pads onto the caliper.
  2. Lubricate the slide pin bolts with grease provided with the brake pads, or suitable silicon grease equivalent.

  4. Install the rear wheel.

SOURCE: ac/heater fan switch problem on a 2006 jeep commander

next to the fan motor there should be a connector that has three or four wires that attached to the blower resistor. it should have two screws holding it to heater case, just pull it out and replace.

SOURCE: install a altenator for a 2006 jeep commander

I would rate this a 5 in difficulty. If you have a metric socket set, basic hand tools and a supertine belt tool it's fairly easy repair. You can rent a surpentine belt tool at Autozone.

Disconnect the battery
remove the cowling
remove the supertine belt from the altenator pully
disconnect the red wire on the back of the altenator
disconnect the harness plug from the altenator
remove the bolts holding the altenator to the mounting brackets.
Reverse the process with the new altenator and it it's done.
Make sure your battery is charged before you start the engine a low battery can cause damage to your new altenator.

2008 Jeep Commander with 5.8l Hemi problems with instrument panel

Have shop run an OHM test on your transmission sensors -- then have them replaced and rerun the OHM test. -- it's more than likely an input speed sensor that is not working properly and telling the jeep to go into "limp mode" hence your speed isn't changing but it can't read the actual speed.

It's going to be the contacts to the horn, the conacts are part of the air bag one unit, what you could do for how is disconnect battery, on back side of air bag thew steering wheel small bolts, remove both bolts and disconnect horn harness not the yellow one that's air bag, or replace unit. goodluck

I have a 2006 Jeep Commander. The malfunction light came on. How can I check to see what the codes are?

I believe that the 2006 Commander uses the newer CAN protocol, which replaced the ODB-II system. Many of the auto parts stores such as Autozone have a scan tool that they can hook up and read the codes that are causing the malfunction light to come one (sometimes also referred to as the check engine light or service engine light). If you go there and tell them the year make and model they should be able to tell you if they can read the code.

Once you have that code they should be able to tell you what it means and if that is not helpful or clarify the issue, post it up here and I will see what I can find for you regarding the issue.
