Question about Cars & Trucks

Astra fault codes 0480 and 0481. any help please? please read down there V V

Car was great, then weather turned very wet, drove a few miles one day when all of a sudden the dials started playing up slowly moving down to 0 as if power as being taken away from them, random dash lights coming on and then the power steering whent off, got down the hill and stopped the car (this is only a few miles and minutes just to let you know it all happened very quickly), when i tried to fire it up again there was no power, and i mean NO power 'zero zilch'I know because I checked it with my multimeter and it read about 0 in le battery! ok so i got another battery to the car and tried to start and this is what i got, she would fire up for about 5 seconds, and then stall every time, and like i have seen others here say a noise like a jet engine, i know however that the noise is the motor for the power steering, because this very strange thing is happening where when i turn the key to on position when the dash lights come on, the power steering turnes on? I know for sure that this is not meant to happen and it was not like that before? I remember power steering only coming on when the engine is started so im completely baffled. so i researched and found how to get fault codes, and here is what i got- 1610, 0602, 0480, 0481 and thats it, no start and a very ****** off mechanic being me, no im not an electrician and i love mechanics, its like some robot coming along and turning your microwave on and breaking it then powering down, its really annoying. can anyone christen me so i can see the light because my life is now ruined as a mechanic unless of course i was to go back to that college, but it stinks there.

SOURCE: 1995 toyota camry-stalling out when driving

You do not have to replace the fuel pump at a specific mileage.
I hate to speculate without physically inspecting the vehicle, but, my best solution here & now may be the fuel pump. Now, I would not go out & buy one before you had proper diagnosis. Here is one test, but you will need to have to experience the stall again, and then test to see if you have fuel pressure at the injectors. If you have no fuel pressure, replace the pump. Fuel filter issues do not "come & go", they stay, and your car would not run properly. Also, a fuel pump failure will not set a computer code on this particular model vehicle. Hope this helps..

SOURCE: stalling, 'reduced power' light, and OBD code P1125 Manufacturer control air metering...

These trucks have a drive by wire system,we seen a` lot with a broken ground wire on the rear of the drverside cyl head, this is hard to see just feel and give the wire a tug .If the wire is loose or broken the reduced engine power light will come on.

SOURCE: Turn key, nothing happens

It could be the park/neutral switch, next time it doesn't start try wiggling the shifter in park while turning the key, or shift to neutral and see if that will work. if that doesn't change the problem I would replace the ignition switch.

Won't move out of 4th gear, engine warning light is on. Drove 2000 k's in two days Holden Astra 2006 was due for a service but can't drive there now

engine warning lights are also reporters for transmission faults
run the fault codes and check for problem over drive servo/solenoid or TCM problem

My Astra remote start is turning on by itself; sometimes it cuts right off and other times, it runs a while then shuts off. HELP!

think you will need to have the engine management unit read to find the fault. it sounds like there is a fault with the code reader or it could be the remote, but a read out should tell you what the problem is. sometimes if the remote gets wet it can cause this problem.

Why wont Nissen 1.6 petrol Juke drive after stalling in morning for a few days. AA man said computer not showing a fault!

with nissan there is a procedure that requires a screw in the side of the ECM to be set before it reads out codes
it is not just a case of plugging in the scanner and reading codes
from your description it could be faulty crank/cam sensor_wiring to both or either-
or a failing ignition control module/coil from a component overheating and switching off
what ever ,there will be a fault code

Astra Mk5 P2176 Fault Code Had a wing replaced on

Firstly i cannot find these fault codes ,either on the generic or the opel code list ,now the computer on this car is on the back of the engine or to the firewall where the servo would be on a LHD model so its possible it got a bit wet ,but without being able to know what the codes are i have no idea where to do from here ,now the only thing i can think off is offside passenger side on a LHD vehicle would mean the gas fume recycling thing is on this side could the body man have left a pipe off this device or cut through one of the pipes ,I do think this is down the bodyshop to sort out for you ,what you should have done was to check the car out first before you paid for it

Engine stalls but starts right back up

How long since a tune-up? To check for some codes, use a jumper wire between A and B terminals at datalink connector. Then, turn key just till dash lights come on. The mil starts flashing, you count the flashes to get the codes, your looking for two digit numbers. This is 12 pin data link connector obd1.

3002 Pt Cruiser GT - 53, 000 miles - first start of the day - went about 1/4 mile down hill, engine light came on. Had put gas in the day before thought maybe the gas cap was lose. Tightened gas cap, went...

It sounds like a sensor is intermittantly loosing the data stream. Since the engine light came on, I would go to a reputable shop and have them check for codes. Many auto parts stores will do this as well and sometimes for free. Can't beet free. If I were to guess I would say something like the camshaft postion sensor is going bad, Or the crankshaft postion sensor, Or something like that. The code will tell which one it is.

Good luck, and if you have any further questions please....ask!

Check engine light is on

I would disconnect the battery for three minutes and reconnect it. That should remove the code. You will have drive the car up to about 75 miles to see if the code does or does not show up again. It may have been reading the amount of air in the system from removal of the injector.
