I have a 98 c1500. 5.0 l V8 Stopped at a light then upon acceleration it woulndt shift past 2nd great. CEL came on. Giving me co221 co222 and co237 codes. And light is NOT on.

C0221, C0222 are your left and right wheel speed sensors. C0237 is your rear wheel speed sensor. It looks like your computer has lost contact with all of your speed sensors and can't tell how fast you are going and is basically freaking out. Check your ABS and Traction Control(if you have T/C) fuses. Other than that, I would seek help of a good diagnostic mechanic.

Tabitha, trouble code C1233 left front wheel speed sensor input signal missing. Possible causes:
Faulty left front wheel speed sensor, harness is open or shorted, circuit poor electrical connection .
Have a good tech. diagnose and estimate repair.

What are the probable causes of DTCs C0222, C0226, and C0237?

Brent, Check and clean connections(use electronic contact cleaner), make sure wires are not damaged. Check grounds from EBCM controller. Check links below and don't be afraid to google search for more info.
C 0222 Missing Right Front Speed Signal
C 0226 Missing Left Front Speed Signal
- Faulty Right/Left Front Speed Sensor
- Right/ Left Front Speed Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Right/ Left Front Speed Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty EBCM

C 0237 Erratic rear speed signal
- Faulty Rear Speed Sensor
- Rear Speed Sensor harness is open or shorted
- Rear Speed Sensor circuit poor electrical connection
- Faulty EBCM

C0222 and C0226 The corresponding wheel speed sensor signal is less than 6 km/h (4 mph) for 5 seconds, or 120 seconds in order to set both DTCs.
Did you perform the ABS Diagnostic System Check?
Go to Step 2
Go to Diagnostic System Check - ABS


  1. Use a scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle at a speed greater than the specified value.
Does the DTC set?
19 km/h (12 mph)
Go to Step 3
Go to Diagnostic Aids

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor connector.
  4. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance across the wheel speed sensor.
Does the resistance measure within the specified range?
700-10,000 ohms
  1. Spin the wheel by hand as fast as possible.
  2. Use a DMM in order to measure the AC voltage across the wheel speed sensor as the wheel spins.
Does the AC voltage measure greater than the specified value?
100 mV
Go to Step 5 yes
Go to Step 8 no


Replace the wheel speed sensor. Refer to Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement .
Did you complete the replacement?


Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the wheel speed sensor. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and to Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
Did you find and correct the condition?
Go to Step 10
Go to Step 6

Right front wheel speed signal missing

you may need a wheel bearing they can test the bearing with a lab scope or meter while spining the wheel
