2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Problems

I was driving it last night and when I turned it off there was an unwinding sound after the motor was off. Today on the way home from the store, abs and trac light came on I was able to drive it another mile to my house. While approaching my driveway all the lights came on as the car stalled . It turns over but will not start.

SOURCE: Fuel pump or something else

Hi the trac off light and the car not running have nothing to do with each other
the TRAC OFF LIGHT will set a code in the EBCM
to check the fuel pump remove the gas cap and have someone turn the key to run and while you listen at the filler neck if you can hear a humming noise then the pump is working
if the pump is working then check fuel pressure and spark
hopes this helps you

no you need to take it and have the codes pulled on it, the abs system will disable the traction control system.Without knowing what the codes are for the abs system it would not be possible to say what the problem is.

Power steering

Have you inspected the belt? It is probably stretched or damaged...the belt turns the power steering unit, and charges your battery via the alternator...(low battery light) Did you drive through some deep water last night? Be sure to inspect this so you do not get stranded. Hope this helps.

Where is the oil sending unit located on a 2000 Cavalier

That will be on the backside of the motor. Check with your local autoparts store for a sending unit socket, because they are different from a regular socket.

work the gears from park to low a few times, sounds like you have air or bubbles in the system, did you happen to change the tranny filter when you changed the gasket ?

2004 cavalier skipped and stalled out last night, it started back up but the check engine light was on. It has started again today and drove fine but the light is still on. Any ideas?

Take it to autozone and ask them to put it on their OBD-II Scanner. They provide that service for free, and it will tell you exactly what your check engine light is trying to tell you.
