How dhowo you clear codes

A code reader/scan tool is the best way to clear codes. You can also disconnect the battery to clear the codes. If the loight comes back on it is a HARD code and the light will not go out until the problem is fixed

Can my car pass a smog test if i have cleared the codes temporarily ?

They can tell how long it has been since the codes were cleared,so you won't get away with it.If it is a code that will stay off for a day,by the least expensive or most likely part that will fix the code, and show the receipt to the emission test station.(Who knows, you might even get lucky and actually fix the issue).

I have a 92 Lexus LS 400 I had a code 13 but I fix that but the engine light is still on what do I do?

Chances are the problem causing the code to be set is still there.
If the problem is fixed, and you clear the code, it should not come back.
Code 13 should be a loss of RPM signal which could be a cam sensor or something else.

Clear all repair codes

Remove the negative battery cable for 10-15 minutes then reconnect. If there no active current codes then this will clear codes. If there any current problems the codes will come back. The problems must be fixed to clear all codes.

I have a 2004 mazda rx 8 we may disconnect the battery to clear the "check engine light" -- if we do, will we need a "code" for the radio, or anything else?

You WILL probably need a code. Your car might not remember it as it needs the battery to keep memory. The best way to clear the check engine light is to buy a code reader. Costco has a cheepie one that works great. $35.00 . The code reader will also give you "code" that your car is throwing. Disconnecting the battery to clear the code is only a band-aid fix. If there is a problem with your car the "check engine light" will turn right back on. Just clearing the code obviously doesn't fix your problem.

Clear code for engine light

The code clearing happens via two things> first, resolve the issue causing the error code. The code will come back if you do not resolve the issue. you can clear the codes by using a code reader, but it woudl likely reappear. Fix the issue causing the error code.
Remember, the code is a clue, not always the issue.

Generally something mechanical is wrong with the engine. Could be minor or major.
