Is it fuel injected? if so you might have to bleed the system of air on the fuel rail there should be a vowel that looks like a tire one

SOURCE: 1987 FORD FULL SIZE BRONCO FUEL PROBLEM, SHUTS DOWN

The only way air can get in the fuel line is if you have a hole in it! Problem of course is were? I would run the fuel line from back to front and back again. Look for any wet spot that you can find. You may even have to drop the tank to ba able to look on top. I would suspect the problem is in the line before the high preasure pump, being as you are pulling air into the system. I have seen leaky lines allow air in, but not let fuel out.

SOURCE: 1989 Bronco II have replaced fuel

Is it the 2.8? I am just thinking of what cycles and would cause the engine to run bad. The fuel relay would not be the problem. Because if it doesn't close, then the engine does not run at all. The power distribution box is a possibility. But I am thinking about what you are saying the problem cycles. That is the strange thing. I think that the cycling has to do with pressure in the fuel tank. Have you tried changing the gas cap? That could be all that the problem is. But it could also be the vent in the fuel tank. The reason why I am thinking this is because the fuel tank builds pressure from the gas sloshing around and when it builds up too much pressure then it relieves. What do you think?

This could be a bad ground on the ECM. When it is in park it is open loop. When you put it in gear, the ecm goes closed loop with the oxygen sensors and with no ground it dies.

88 bronco. runs fine untill it warms up then loses most power

Sound like an ignition issue. The hotter temps are causing a part to fail.If you've never replaced the ignition coil, this is the easiest place to start.Another possibilty would be the pickup in the distributor,or the reluctor on the distributor shaft.

On the side of the distributor there is a ecm or brain to control the spark. If you replace the ecm (electronic control module), this should repair the problem. Make sure you use dielectric grease when installing the new ECM.

on the bad gas part I would recommend to get some STP gas treatment with injector cleaner to put into the gas tank
try a salvage yard that has a 302 engine like yours and change the whole distributor because the shaft could be bad on that end

Bronco Wont Start (help please)

Check for timing gear problems. They have plastic teeth on the cam shaft gear which will shatter causing it to jump time.

Runs fine for a few

it might be the fuel pressure regulator, i have a similar problem with my 95 302. but mine just dies but starts right back up. i was told fuel may be evaporating out of the fuel lines, when it doesnt start the first try i pump the gas pedal 2-3 times and it starts right up.
