1998 lincoln town car wheels locked up when in drive or reverse

With the car in drive, the wheel are locked up. the car moves less then a foot. i put it in nutrial and have the same problem the car only roles less then a foot

fronts are bearing ahd hub assy remove the black center cover remove the hub nut and the hub should slide off. the caliper and rotor also have to be removed

check and see if the brake light work, if not replace the brake light switch, they are a problem in this year, also make sure the wires to the swithch are not broken inside the plastic insulator near the switch, use a 12 volt test light to check the switch which is located at the top of the arm the brake pedal is connected to..

SOURCE: my 1998 navigator 4 wheel drive got stuck& now ac wont work

2 different electrical circut's that are unrelated. Ac on a 12 year old truck is bound to need some service. Take it to a trusted shop that is not hurting for work & ask them if anything is disconnected, ie: compressor power wire, high pressure switch...ect. Tell tale sign system is low on freon is the compressor keeps cycling on & off with a clicking sound or compressor does not come on at all.

If I remember correctly reverse and low (1) use the same clutch pack.

I think I have a mount broken. When I put it in reverse the engine drops down in the front and makes a bumping sound. I have a 2006 Lincoln zephyr

An easy way to the hood and look thru the crack between the bottom of the hood and the dash from behind the wheel. While keeping your foot on the brake and with the engine running switch from reverse to drive and give it a little gas. Then go back to an idle and switch from drive back to reverse and give it a little gas. The engine should not move more that about 4 inches back and fourth. Any more movement than that or any clunking or banging you will need to have any bad mounts replaced.

Gear shift if difficult to shift from park to reverse or drive.

Your Gear Shift Rod Cylender Tube is cracked or broken. Will have to drop your steering wheel colum to replace. This is common. Ford has modified the new tubs.

How do I get my ignition unlocked so I can turn my key

Your steering wheel lock may have your ignition lock cylinder in a bind. Try to move the steering wheel. If it moved back and forth a couple inches freely, this is not your problem. If it does not move freely, then turn it with moderate force to "feel" where the lock pin is. It will move slightly in both directions. Move the wheel so it is in the center of this small amount of travel and turn the key. It should turn now. If this does not work, then you may have to have your steering column disassembled to have the lock cylinder replaced.

this someimes happens in these vehicles. are you on a hill? if so, put the Ebrake on before you do this!! hold your foot on brake pedal and try pulling steering wheel to left and right hard while tring to turn key at same time. if this does'nt work,,you will need some help by rocking the car forward to backward while you try with key ON just so you can try t move the shifter out of park . hope this helps!!

This is a common happening, but it is not necessarily a problem. What happens is when you are driving, the transmission is locked and providing as much power to the wheels as possible. When you take your foot off the accelerator, the transmission unlocks and goes into a passive state to prevent bogging down the engine. When you hit the gas again too soon, you feel a "THUMP" which is the transmission going back into the locked position. While this causes no short-term damage, if you do it often enough, it could cause increased wear for the transmission.

2001 lincoln ls will not shift out of park

Brake interlock, your foot needs to be on the brake to shift out of park. If you are doing that and you still can't shift then check all your fuses, the lock circuit may be out

98 Lincoln TC,Cold starts fine ,runs good until warm, then shuts off. No codes,Cranks ok, have spark, PATS ok. No fuel pressure, cant hear fuel pump prime,New Fuel relay. jumped fuel pump - works. I do not hear fuel pump prime up, do not have fuel gauge, but pressing on valve in fuel rail- no pressurized fuel. Fuel regulator seems ok, not leaking / vacuum line dry as a bone. If I let it set for 15 min , it will start up again, but for a few minutes then dies out. If I let it set overnight it starts up perfectly and runs until operating temp is reached then stalls/stumbles, and shuts down. Vacuum is good while cranking, even with no start, Checked Inertia switch in trunk, it is not tripped. I have seen Ford TSB summaries' that mention issues like this , but I am not able to see to description. A point to add, the MAF sensor was cleaned, then I decided to replace it and did not make a difference. I do not have any stored codes, and the PATS is working fine, typical 2 second flash from and once key is inserted a 3 second steady light, then disappears. I have seen the TSB mentioning C103 Connector, it looks fine, I swapped out fuel pump relay with ac relay, still no difference.mention of wires around battery, do not know where to start. in dash service engine light and odometer is normal, seen other posts the say they only have lines, but mine is ok. the start of all of this , I washed engine with regular garden hose, ( not using pressure washer).also in the mean time, rear window defroster stopped working as well, can not say for same reason, but a mention.My problem started after washing engine. this is one of four Panther platform vehicles I owned with exact 4.6l w code engine, which I rinced down before. The only sensor I can think of is Oil pressure , or a corroded wire
