Question about BMW 528
1997 BMW 528i. Has been off the road for 8 months. Stared first time with jump leads. Turned off engine with jump leads still attached but key will not come out. How do I get it out?
Hope this helps:
Your vehicle is equipped with an inter- lock. Therefore, the ignition key cannot be turned to position 0 and removed until the selector lever is in position "P" (Interlock).

You might want to check the outside ambient temperature sensor, located in the right front wheel well, when these become damaged, the dash temp reading might say somewhere around -44degF if this is the case replace the sensor and things should be okay.

There should be a connection under the hood where you can jump the battery. Look for a plastic box with a red plus sign on it. Open it to find the connection point. Connect the negative cable to a solid metal part such as the lifting lug on the head.

Remove arm(s), put wiper motor in park,(shut off) then re-install arm at base of windshield where they were before, when shut off.(in park position.)

coathanger job ,or put some jumper leads one to the chassis and the positive to the starter motor terminal feed ,something clicks here ??but my memory has faded a bit ,iam sure that somewhere on the rear of the vehicle is a connection for a power supply to work the locks to open the vehicle or evan charge the battery .Cant recall properly but i think i pulled a cover off a light or something then put a 12v supply to open the vehicle
