Question about 2005 Chrysler Pacifica Touring

1 Answer

My car won"t start or stay started. The check engine light is on. The code was to replace the crankshaft sensor. It has been replaced but still does the same thing. The check engine light is still on but it is not picking up any codes.

Hi I would disconect the battery to reset the computer first.
then check the timinng belts for wear, if all is good, move to next system masairflow idel control egr in that order. if that does not fix the problem throttle position sensor would be next and always look for vacuum leaks and bad wires.

Boy sounds like you have your hands full. First (DID YOU RESET THE COMPUTER) Disconnect the battery for a few minutes reconnect this will reset the computer. Give the computer enough time to learn the new parts some times it takes a couple of days.

check for bad connectors and bad wires. check timing belt for wear.

SOURCE: 1999 chrysler 300m wont crank, code P0340

Sounds like the timing belt broke. Unfortunately this vehicle was not equiped with no contact valves so if that is the case you will need to have the engine and Head rebuilt. If the crank position sensor can't sense the position of the crank it should shutdown the electrical to keep you from damaging your engine.

change the crankshaft positon sensor in the rear of the engine above the oilfilter. Also check the wiring to this sensor, they have a problem shorting out. You have to change the camshaft and crankshaft sensors at the same time. Make sure you give your car a major tune up. Did you check yor starter?.........runjoe

No, it's not time to replace your PCM. It's time to properly diagnose and repair the problem. Most Oxygen sensor codes are not the fault of the oxygen sensor. codes P0132 and P0152 mean that both of your upstream O2 sensor circuits are shorted to voltage. It does not mean that the O2 sensors themselves are bad. The code P0300 is a random misfire code. This does not mean change the spark plugs. This means that several or all of the cylinders are misfiring. This could be due to spark plugs, but you will most likely get a single cylinder code (like P0301 or Po302 etc.) if the spark plugs are getting worn out. This random misfire code is most likely being caused by your shorted oxygen sensor circuits. If they are shoted to voltage they will cause your fuel to run extremely lean (vey little fuel) to the point that it is causing the cylinders to misfire. Code P0300 can have seveal different causes, including a fuel pump getting worn out, am manifold vacuum leak, an intemittent crank sensor signal, etc. When other codes are being set at the same time as a P0300, the other codes need to be diagnosed and repaired first.

I replaced crankshaft sensor but again have problem with starting my oldsmobile

Do you have "check engine" light? Get codes read?
It's certainly possible that the crank sensor is defective. It's also possible a cam position sensor has gone bad, or something else.

i'd have the obd codes read this will point to the switch etc that is causing the issue ,it may well be the throttle position sensor but i'd also guess at the camshaft sensor or the crankshaft sensor , with the codes you should narrow down the problem cause

Tcs light flashes and p0340 code

P0340 code means "Something" is wrong in the timing...
from CMP (Camshaft Position sensor) to the crankshaft bolt.

Very first thing, verify connectors are clean and shiny.
clear all codes, even hard codes.

My car start but shutt off inmedialty

If you have not done so pull the engine codes or have someone do it.
The codes will give you a good idea where to start otherwise the first place I would check is replacing the Crankshaft Position sensor. This is not only very common for them to fail but I have 1994 Laredo and 1996 Laredo and both had the same trouble at exactly the same time. In addition I replaced the Intake Air Temp sensor, coolant temp sensor and idle air control valve on the 1994. The clicking is probably relays and is more than likely normal.

Probably not a glitch but an possible issue with the crankshaft position sensor intermittently losing its signal to fire the coils. The crank sensor should be ohmed out when the vehicle is warmed up and when it is cold just to verify that it stays with in operating specifications. If it does not then it will need replaced.
