bottom line is the U1262 is a communication failure between your scanner and a module

assuming you actually pulled the code from the PCM then you have lost communication with a different module like the ABS, DDM, LCM, RASM, HEC, PAM and any other module I can't think of right now

You need a detailed pinpoint test from a Ford service manual or aftermarket source like Alldata, Shop key or Mitchell on Demand

You could be dealing with over a 100 different test PER module

Obviously something we can't do on-line too easily

If you could at least identify which module you have lost communications with your dealer may, for a fee, copy the correct pinpoint test

I have multiple codes instrument cluster codes: u1073, u1262, u1059, u1123, u1041; ABS/TCS codes: u1073, u1262, C1805, B2900;


Did you change any modules on the vehicle ?
B2900 VIN Mismatched ABS Module VERIFY that the module has the correct as-built data.
CHECK for correct powertrain control module (PCM) and ABS module configuration using the diagnostic tool. RECONFIGURE the component as necessary. FOLLOW the diagnostic tool directions for the ABS module configuration or REFER to Section 303-01A or Section 303-01B for the PCM. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the C1805 Mismatched PCM and/or ABS/TC Module ABS Module CHECK for correct PCM and ABS module configuration using the diagnostic tool. RECONFIGURE the component as necessary. FOLLOW the diagnostic tool directions for the ABS module configuration or REFER to Section 303-01A or Section 303-01B for the PCM. CLEAR the DTC. REPEAT the self-test. U1059 SCP (J1850) Invalid or Missing Data for Transmission/Transaxle/PRNDL PCM REFER to Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis (PC/ED) manual. U1041 SCP (J1850) Invalid Or Missing Data For Vehicle Speed Instrument Cluster REFER to Section 413-01 . U1041 SCP (J1850) Invalid Or Missing Data For Vehicle Speed Tire Pressure Monitoring System Module REFER to Section 204-04 . You need to take it to the dealer , not a transmission shop. Your vehicle could have a ground issue , could have power issue , could have a control module issue . It needs to be hooked up to the factory scan tool ! It is for sure it has a communication problem on the SCP data bus , do you know what serial data communication is ?
The vehicle has 3 module communication networks:
  • the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communications network
  • the international standards organization (ISO) 9141 communications network
  • the universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART) based protocol (UBP) communications network
The diagnostic tool connects to all 3 networks through the data link connector (DLC). This makes diagnosis and testing of these systems easier by allowing one diagnostic tester to be able to diagnose and control any module on the 3 networks from one connector. The DLC can be found under the instrument panel between the steering column and the radio.
The SCP communications network will remain operational even with the severing of one of the bus wires. Communications will also continue if one of the bus wires is shorted to ground or voltage, or if some but not all termination resistors are lost. The SCP communications network allows inter-module communication.
The ISO 9141 communications network does not permit intermodule communication. When the diagnostic tool communicates to modules on the ISO 9141 communication network, the diagnostic tool must request all information, or initiate module commands.
The ISO 9141 communications network will not function if the wire is shorted to ground or battery voltage. Also, if one of the modules on the ISO 9141 communications network loses power or shorts internally, communications to that module will fail.
The UBP communications network will not function if the wire is shorted to ground or voltage. The UBP is different from the ISO communication network in that it allows intermodule communication.

Do you know what a serial data network is ? With all the computers car makers put on thier cars these day's they need a communication network for them to talk ,share info. on etc. U codes are codes for the network . A module could be down ,could be a wiring problem . A shorted module or bus wire can bring down the whole vehicle. Could cause the vehicle not to start ,systems not to function . How did you pull this code ,with what scan tool or code reader ? Did it come from the PCM - engine computer ? Need a up scale professional scan tool to check all module's on the vehicle , need to pin point the module that is causing the problem .

SECTION 418-00: Module Communications Network 2007 Explorer/Mountaineer/Explorer Sport Trac Workshop Manual DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION Procedure revision date: 08/02/2006 Communications Network Vehicle communication utilizes both medium and high speed controller area network (CAN) communications. CAN is used for many modules to communicate with each other on a common network. CAN in-vehicle networking, is a method for transferring data among distributed electronic modules via a serial data bus. Without serial networking, intermodule communication requires dedicated, point to point wiring resulting in bulky, expensive, complex, and difficult to install wiring harnesses. Applying a serial data network reduces the number of wires combining the signals on a single network. Information is sent to the individual control modules that control each function.
The vehicle has 2 module communication networks:
  • Medium speed (MS) CAN
  • High speed (HS) CAN
Both networks are connected to the data link connector (DLC). This makes diagnosis and testing of these systems easier by allowing one scan tool to be able to diagnose and control any module on both networks from one connector. The DLC can be found under the instrument panel between the steering column and the audio unit.

MS-CAN Network Operation

Network Termination
The CAN network uses a network termination circuit to improve communication reliability. The network termination of the CAN bus takes place inside the termination modules by termination resistors. Termination modules are located at either end of the bus network. As network messages are broadcast in the form of voltage signals, the network voltage signals are stabilized by the termination resistors. Each termination module has a 120 ohm resistor across the positive and negative bus connection in the termination module. With 2 termination modules on each network, and the 120 ohm resistors located in a parallel circuit configuration, the total network impedance, or total resistance is 60 ohms.
Network termination improves bus message reliability by:
  • stabilizing bus voltage.
  • eliminating electrical interference.
Gateway Module
The instrument cluster is the gateway module, translating HS-CAN to MS-CAN and vice versa. This information allows a message to be distributed throughout both networks. The instrument cluster is the only module on this vehicle that has this ability.

Please note the car is ia fiesta not focus( it is not listed in the listing) ford fiesta 1.4 petrol year 52 engine failure / rebuild head various dtc faults cleared ignition is coming on but car...


The code U1262 point out a communication fault between the vehicle modules and a scanner. It may be best to visit your local dealer to find if one of the vehicles control modules has failed. In some cases this can be as simple as a blown fuse, but there is always a reason for a fuse to blow
and a oil sending circuit fail. would need to be tested.
P1000 DTC code is a manufacturer specific trouble code. your code reader is not reading or communicating correctly you will need to check the fuses for all the modules and check the connections on the plugs and the units to check the modules to see if they have good contact. also check the main earth from the battery to the shell and make sure the contact is good.

U1027 is invalid or missing data for engine R.P.M.
U1262 is communications bus fault.
