Spark plugs will spark plugs make a car not turn over to start

Hi Anthony......,It's either electrical OR fuel so If you're a hands on guy then do this.... Pull a spark plug lead off a spark plug OR if it's a "COIL ON A SPARK PLUG" pull that off and put a spare spark plug into that spark plug lead OR coil, Then earth that spark plug to a clean part of the motor(make sure the spark plug is touching steel)Turn motor with the key and see if the spark plug sparks.... If it sparks then you have a fuel problem....... But if no spark then you have an electrical problem.... Points or electronic ignition? Corroborator, or fuel injection? Was the car sitting idol for a long period of time, say, 6 months to more than 1 year? With a car that old, I would start with replacing spark plug and ignition wiring. Have you checked the spark plugs? Make sure they're cleaned and gaped. If corroded, replace them.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

Check if you have a spark by pulling the spark plugs and crank the car while the spark plug is on the ignition coil/spark plug wire and ground the threaded part of the spark plug and ask someone to start the car and look for a spark is a spark is present then ignition is fine. If spark plugs are wet and smell like fuel there is problem in the ignition system.

I suspect that your spark plug wires or your distributor is going out. Check your spark wires and distributor. To do that take out #1 spark plug wire from the spark plug. Next take out your spark plug then put it in the spark plug wire. Then turn on car and take a look at the spark plug to see if it's getting a spark. Do this with all the spark plug. If it is your spark plug wire I would replace all of them.

Looks like u better find a ride to work. U need spark and gas for the car to run. When u turn the key, does the engine turn over? If it does, u should check to see if there is spark at the plugs. Remove a spark plug wire, remove the spark plug (if u have an extra plug, just plug it into the removed wire) place on nearby metal surface, turn key, watch for spark at tip of plug. If u see spark, check to see if gas is getting to spark plugs. After several attempts to start, you should see gas (wet) on plugs. Let me know what u find
