Question about 2010 Nissan Altima

2010 Nissan Altima, electrical issues, no blown fuses. Need a quick at-home fix, mechanic too expensive

I've had my '10 Altima for a little over a year now. Best car I've ever owned. Except for the electrical. Whoever had it before me messed with the wiring for a sound system. Now my cruise control doesn't work. My horn makes no sound, my CD player doesn't work, and my trunk will not open. All my fuses are fine. There's many other issues that are small and I'm able to deal with them for now, but everything concerns me because my car is a push start. If the electric goes out, I'm screwed. I can't afford to take it to a Nissan dealer, so does anyone have any quick fixes for these issues? I travel cross country a lot so the cruise and my trunk are especially important. Thanks.

I would say that besides a sound system they probably had a security system in it that they jerked out-did you buy this from a dealer-Iwould take it back to them-with electircal problems in cars today you are not only fighting the wiring but also the computor which controls stuff-if there is a pinch or shorted wire it will give the cpu a bad reading-it will try to correct it and may do other weird stuff-a quick fix would be to look over the wiring harness and look for cut or spliced wires-sorry you inherited such a mess- Denny

Testimonial: "Unfortunately, the place I bought it from was a used car lot that ended up closing down about 4 months later due to fraudulent activity. It was a total shock because it had such a great reputation. I'll take a look at those wires when I get back to my car in a month or 2. (it's in MI and I am not). Thanks!"

SOURCE: 2005 Nissan Altima Cruise Control will not set

I had a similar problem and I took my car to the dealer. They said that they have to tune the cancel switch of the cruise control and charged me $105. I don't know if I sent more or is it reasonable, but I got it working now. you can try at a local mechanic and see if they can do it for less. if not, just take it to the dealer, and they will fix it. it didn't take long for them to fix it, so obviously it is a small problem, but we don't know how to fix it.

2010 Nissan Altima, my ICY alert is now on and will not go off?

You can Disable that warning. The body shop probably unhooked the battery and this reset the warning. In any collision, the body shop is supposed to have a mechanic check the rest of the vehicle. Take it back to the shop. The temp sensor could be having issues on the air flow sensors.

I have a 2010 Nissan Altima and my power locks, windows and power seat will not work. Also, when I use the turn signal, the signal flashed quickly but does not flash on the outside bulb...I recently put in...

The signal flashing fast is a blown bulb. The problem with the other is the fuses. Look for a blown fuse. Consult your owners manual for location of those fuses. Hope this was helpful

2008 nissan altima shut down suddenly getting on engine wont even crank over and engine fans turn on when acc switch is on

When you turn on your AC, it overrides the fan programming. Its supposed to come on every time you turn your AC on. That is working properly.
Without looking under your hood, with my tools, I cannot even begin to list all the reasons why your engine will not turn over, other than an electrical issue.
Could be as simple as a blown fuse, could be total computer failier.
Too many variables.
I would go to a licensed mechanic for help.

Good Luck.

2005 nisson altima interior lights not functioning

Hopefully you've gotten your car fixed by now, but mine just did the same thing today 4/25/2010. While changing the dome light, I blew the 10 amp 'Batt Saver' fuse located inside the car driver side fuse area. The mini fuses in the interior are nearly impossible to check if they are blown without a tester. I bought a cheap one for $5 at AutoZone and discovered. Once replaced, all worked fine. Hope this helps someone else with the same problem I had today.
