Question about Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

I have a Mitsubishi mirage 1997 that I just replaced the 4G93 engine with a same model, just that is a 2000 version. The issue that I'm having is that when pressing the accelerator it shows the RPMs with no problem, however it moves the speed as it was the RPMs as well, any ideas???

SOURCE: How to replace a fuel filter for a Mitsubishi Mirage 2000

There is pressure...you have to remove the rear seat cushion, then remove the service cover and then detach the fuel pump harness connector.Start the car and allow it to run until the engine stalls.Turn the key to off position. Then disconnect the negative battery cable, attach the fuel pump connector, and install the access cover. Now place shop rags or towels around the fitting that is being disconnected. Loosen the filter feed pipe flare nut on the bottom of the filter.Seperate the flare nut from the filter. If equiped, remove and discard the gakets. remove the mounting bolts and remove the filter.if necessary remove the filter bracket. To install: install the filter to it's bracket only finger tight. Make sure the flow arrow is in the right direction. Make sure new O rings are installed prior to installation. Insert the filter feed pipe to the lower connection of the filter and manually screw in the main pipe's fare nut. While holding the fuel filter nut with a back-up wrench, tighten the banjo bolt to 22 ft pounds and tighten the flare nut to 25 with a back-up wrench on the nut. tighten the filter mounting bolts to 10 ft. pounds. Connect negative battery cable. turn key on to pressurize the fuel system and check for leaks. If repairs on the fuel system are needed remember to release the pressure before opening the fuel system. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Is this a 5.7? They are notorious for intake manifold gasket leaks. When mine did it, the diagnostics blamed it on an ignition misfire also! Replaced the gaskets and it runs smooth!

SOURCE: ENGINE SPUTTER AND DIES ON ACCELERATION

check your fuel filter, take an air compressor and blow air through the "in" end if no or little air is coming through then just replace the filter, if fuel filter is ok then try a fuel additive to clean your injectors which are a very common problem when the engine gets gunky build up on them

2000 Mitsubishi mirage 1.8 ltr 4g93 ran out of gas now it wont start. How do i get it started again.

Spray starting fluid into the air intake of the engine, it will start, if it dies out then you have burned out the electric fuel pump located inside the fuel tank, the reason is that when you run out of fuel the pump overheats and the shaft seizes up. You should never let the fuel level go below 1/8 tank on the gauge, the pump is cooled and lubricated by the gasoline it sits in, no fuel no cooling or lubrication.
