Question about Ford Escort
My Escort stalls after I've been driving for a few (~10) minutes. It only stalls when I'm decelerating. If it's just idling it's fine, though rough, but when I'm slowing down for a light or a turn the car stalls. It isn't the fuel filter and I just cleaned the carburator. The car is idling pretty poorly, with surges of power and a lot of vibration.
Sounds U got water in the fuel bowl of the Carby - try draining the fuel bowl if its got a drain plug.....if not U will have 2 dismantle the fuel bowl & wipe out with a tissue - also check the float & needle & seat is ok could b some dirt caught in the needle - C if U can blow it out!!!

hello, if you car stalls instanly maybe your ignition system has a loose connection or even has a short somewhere. but if it coughing but still trying to idle normally maybe your carb dirty. one thing, some carbs has a solenoid air switch attached on one of its side. if this solenoid is shorted damaged you'll have the same effect. hope this helps.

Check for vacuum leaks. Also try cleaning the ISV.
If that doesnt work go to vwvortex.com and post your issue there
